Disease is Nature's Way of Control

I think it does control, or simply reduces, a portion of the population- intentionally or not.
But it's only one of many methods. As mention, natural disaster adds to this chance control as well.
If you take the movie "Day After Tomorrow" seriously(which I don't recommend), global natural disasters - such as global warming - are the earth's way of 'Resetting Itself'
So, in a sense, it very much is a means for keeping the population on check. One of many.

Haha, imagine if the amount of carbon dioxide we breathe out causes a domino effect with wind, eventually causing a hurricane that kills us.

ya know... That's actually a very valid thought. Disease is a chance thing but some are more resilient to it than others. It could be that disease is just a form of singling out the strong. Just as most things in nature for that matter.

With such a dense population, disease can make an excellent crowd control factor. Natural selection plays its part by the genes you carry, which affect how effective the person's immune system can be. Going back to the dense population things, more people equal more people to infect with the disease via proxy. In the end those who can withstand until a cure can be found are the ones coming out on top. For now at least.

If I recall correctly, the Black Death was responsible for the Dark Ages?
By the way, this may not sound pretty, but here's the reality: We need people to die.
The Dark Age was not caused by the Black Death silly.

I personally like disease and natural disasters. Without it, the human population of today would be twice as large and weaker. Most large animals have less numbers (blues whales) and smaller animals have larger numbers (cockroaches- their everywhere!), but humans are special we just keep growing and growing in number despite our size. I believe there is too many of us and especially too many that don’t contribute to society. The worst part is that we are trying to live longer. The more old people we have the bigger the burden will be on the working class, the dependency ratio is increasing. European and Asian countries are already feeling the effects of an aging population. The old have to take care of the older and more and more old people are dying in poverty. 20% of Japans ancients are living in poverty; some are sleeping in the streets. All of this is happening while the younger generations are upset that they have to pay to support the massive population of old people. The future will be even bleaker if we erase disease and natural disasters. I think naturals disasters are nice because they give you a clean slate to work on, a second chance to make things better than they were before and diseases makes us stronger.
