Foreign History(books)

I had to do some American History homework, which consisted of reading three chapters of the most influential times in the history of, well, America. This got me thinking, in the American History books, it gives the impression that the British were a bunch of dicks, but that's not really true. What does it say in the British books? That we were a bunch of unruly rebels? Do the victors of war really decide how history goes, or does enough time pass where eventually each side can teach their respective views?

They say that history is written by the victors but in reality history is written by whoever can put pen to paper. This means that school history books are useful only for vague things like "a war with these people vs these people happened at this point and these people won (or at least accomplished this thing)" and details like who was "right" and "wrong" or who started it or anything else are as likely to be completely made up as not. Getting an honest view of historical events would take actually being there and otherwise the closest you can get involves assloads of researching stuff for yourself.

At most of those times, Great Britain was at war with France in Europe, Canada and the colonies. Great Britain expanding in India, using Australia as a penal colony, settling in Hong Kong or was that later. King George III, I believe was in charge but was not English, and the rich lords of Great Britain wanted more money to fund all these expansions and their pockets. The New World colonies, future USA, maybe was the richest colony at that time except for India.
The Brits wanted more money for global expansion and we wanted less taxes and better conditions.
At our current times, the people of the United States want better working conditions since they have gone down hill. The United States is spending extreme amounts of money overseas while letting major corporations send good paying jobs to foreign countries.
The United States, now needs money to pay down 14-15 trillion dollars in debt. The people, except the rich and powerful (eventho the rich and powerful always want more money, of the United States want (better) jobs returned and better working conditions like medical insurance.
So is our government full of dicks and are the citizens and future citizens (legal or not) so unruly, also.
The basis is no Brits were not dicks and the colony was not unruly but GREED WENT OVERBOARD and forced these changes. Oh, humanity, where have we gone wrong?
It is an ever living circle of crap.
All above can and will be debated.
By the way, my ancestry is Irish and German. We know how the Irish feel about the English.
