Hentai Viewers more Sensitive than Porn Viewers?
Are Hentai Viewers more Sensitive than Porn Viewers?
0
So, I've been giving this some thought for a while. My question is: Are Hentai Viewers more sensitive than porn viewers? My answer is: Yes, they are. My reasons for this are simple:
Certain things in life lead towards desensitization. One of these biggest things is the use of curse words, or "swearing". When people swear, they begin to use it more often, and thus lead to it being a common word in their vocabulary. For instance, the most common curse word is "Fuck". It is becoming so over-used, that it is becoming DANGEROUSLY close to common words such as "I" and "A". Yes, single letter words that we use everyday. People will say "Fuck" on it's own, as an Adjective, Interjection, Noun or Verb.
When I was younger, and was a little upset, and would sigh. I would usually sigh the word, "Dang...". Whereas many people today, will sigh the word "Fuuuuuuck" (like that). This is ridiculous. The word should be used only for times of great distress, such as "Fuck! I just burned my hand!", NOT "Fuuuuck I'm so bored."
See the difference? The second group are a group of de-sensitized people. The word "Fuck" is present in nearly every porn video. Thus, registering to the head and desensitizing the person.
This is essentially why Porn viewers are less sensitive (and my rant on "Fuck").
Another reason is that Hentai usually have deeper stories, thus making you feel for the character, instead of trying to physically feel them.
What are your thoughts?
(This general thought somewhat came from this thread here:

Mainly the OP's story about guys talking about "Fucking" their girlfriends.)

"im always cute"
Conversely, Hentai Viewers are probably less sensitive in terms of extreme things, such as guro.

The only reason I think Hentai viewers are less desensitized is because of the disconnect caused by the 2D vs. real life situation. Additionally, hentai is more apt to be surreal (ex. tentacle monsters), pushing it even further away from reality.

With enough time, the meaning and sensitivity of words can change. Example: Gay. Years ago it used to mean being happy, or carefree. Now it is associated with homosexuality. Rarely do you see it used in it's original context, such as if you go watch some old plays. The latest meaning, seems like a taboo topic for millions of people, due the reference to one's sexuality. I may possibly be stretching this, but, you could say that the sensitivity of the word itself increase, no?

Way more than half the doujins I have read, have used the word "Fuck" in it, during the sex. I don't want to exaggerate the average number on those pages, but there tends to be quite a few in there. I haven't watched a hentai video in quite some years now so I don't recall if there was much usage there.
Another reason is that Hentai usually have deeper stories, thus making you feel for the character, instead of trying to physically feel them.
So I guess they should make pornos with deep stories and use the word "Fuck" less, so that the audience can feel the characters.
This would require porn actors, that you know...can act. And people to come up with a decent story.

O.o I can't handle guro Tegumi, I have a slight bit of hemophobia. Those stuff tend to make me limp.
I also can't really fap up to seventh heaven when I'm seeing hurtful things being done. So in that regard, I guess I would be a sensitive person.
However, I speak like a sailor around my boys. Around females or polite company I will mind myself, but when I'm by myself or with close friends I may let a few "fuck" fly. I do usually say it when I'm in major pain as well.
I don't think whether or not you say cuss words have any relations to how sensitive you are. I may swear up a storm, but as soon as I see someone is uncomfortable, I'll stop. I'm also sensitive to the feelings of others, so I'd rather stay silent, if my words will just hurt people.
Even if I watch hardcore american porno, doesn't make me any less sensitive, or more prone to hurt anyone, verbally or otherwise. My sensitivity, I feel, is a part of my personality, which tends to be hard to change.
Therefore, I don't think watching Porno or hentai will determine sensitivity of a person. Rather, I think that it is how we view ourselves, and how we think of others that determine how sensitive we may be. However, as I am an active Fakku member, and a semi-sensitive person, I'd voted for yes.
Oh and Money, I agree with you on the fact that words change - it is how English as a language evolves. This holds true for all languages, as they will change with each generation. New words will be added to the lexicon, and old ones will be forgotten. If you just look at Shakespeare, you'll see that it's hard to see whether or not the play contains swear words, unless somebody tells you. We've come a long way from then.
Oh and... Porno with plot? Porn stars that can act? That would be FUCKING WIN!!!
But to do that, we need Porno U - academy of performing arts and drama.

Depends what exactly you mean.
Swearing: Swearwords do indeed appear less in hentai. When I watch porn, it's all "oooohh put that biiig black cock inside my naughty pussy". Hentai, same meaning, different words. "Nya! Ah! It's going in! Nya! Oh, your penis is hitting my womb!" Hentai does use swearwords, but not in every sentence as in most pornos. However, just because there's less swearing in the material you watch, doesn't mean that you swear less in your daily speech. Maybe the other influences or habits in a hentai-viewer's life cause them to swear profusely. Conversely, a porn addict may be polite, unaffected by their choice in erotica.
Hardcore Sex: I'd say hentai fans are the less sensitive of the two in this area. It's really expensive, perhaps even impossible, to create a tentacle rape scene in a porn. Can you imagine having to do Saw-style special effects for a guro video?! Because it's far easier to draw a breast being sawed off than to create it in a movie editor, hentai viewers have more access to hardcore material. More access leads to desensitization.
However, if you were able to have an unlimited supply of rape porn (3D), I'd imagine you'd be much less sensitive than if you read rape doujins. They are just drawings, after all. It's easy to disconnect yourself from the brutality of the doujin when you tell yourself it isn't real. If you were watching an actual woman being raped, it'd have a far greater effect on your mind.
Romanticism: Depends what kind of hentai you watch. ;) I'm into rape, myself. That's definitely not more romantic and sensitive than your typical 3D porn. Also, it is possible for a porn watcher to be a candlelit-dinner type of guy, or a hentai fan to be a jerk. Although maybe if you had two virgins, one addicted to hentai, and the other, porn, you'd have interesting results. The hentai fan might build up this ideal that sex is all about "connecting as one" or making the girl cry tears of joy, or whatever. The porn addict might view sex as casual and no-strings-attached.

In terms of language? Maybe it's because people who prefer hentai over porn tend to be slightly disconnected to the real world so they don't really keep up with increasing trends such as the casualness of the word "fuck".
As far as morals go, I've found that most people find hentai as disgusting as gay porn (from a straight person's point of view of course) or animals. In their eyes, we're the desensitised ones.

Well, your average hentai reader regularly throws a fit over "hard stuff", while I rarely ever see anyone doing that when it comes to porn. Feminists excluded.

Oh my I actually have a point of view on this topic, how shocking.
In any case, I personally agree with the concept of Hentai watchers being more 'sensitive', but not fully with the example of swearing less or something like that (I personally see no true harm in swearing but that's a different rant). What I believe is actually based on what I've seen at least in Hentai movies more times than not, as appose to in the pornos I've seen. That is something very important in terms of 'romance' and 'love making' but it still feels like people forget it... Foreplay.
It might be just based on which hentais and pornos I grew up watching... *puts away his urge to kill his day*... But it seems that, more times than not, in Hentais (aside obviously the rape ones), they at least suggest at least several minutes of foreplay before even sticking their cock in. And I mean the whole up to 6 feet. Breast messaging, kissing all over their partner's body, fingers and or tongue use even before getting to the pussy, rubbing kissing and licking thighs, actually interacting with a woman's clit! You know, all those things to make sure that a woman's actually wet and ready to have sex, and at least a little closer to an orgasm.
Most of the porno I've seen however, it's like 10 minutes of the chick blowing the guy, 5 seconds of suggesting the guy's tongue actually touched the woman's pussy, and than they pound into each other and the woman pretends to scream her head off when really she's just swearing her head off while having to basically masturbate while getting fucked and than ends with, even if the woman isn't even close to orgasm, with the guy cumming on some part of her body and the camera zooming on and she gives a 'slutty' look at the lens.
What I'm getting at is that, it feels like, even though there's stuff like rape, guro and tentacles and the like in hentai, well even the tentacles in such rape at least is willing to put something other than just his penis like object in the victim first before raping her.

It's sad that the tentacles usually play with a woman's breasts longer than the men in porno do...
Although I don't think I've ever seen a tentacle rape scene in which they paid any attention to her clit. :c

The industries are different. The porn industry, in many videos, is saying that all girls are there to pleasure men, and thus there is hardly any foreplay, or satisfaction on the girl's end. Not to mention the ridiculous scripts, facial expressions and sounds. Hentai on the other hand caters to tons of different genres, even ones that cannot be made with real people. You can't show a real rape video without getting into legal issues, you cannot show tentacle or guro sex because there are no monsters that rape women and snuff is bad.
Real porn seems like it more for giving horny guys, and the occasional girls, something for a cold hard fap. Hentai gives a lot of flexibility, catering to different preferences.

I think everyone has said almost all that needs to be said here, but no one's really said anything to generalize the point. The point being: Everyone's different. As in the examples, there are porn viewers who are really 'candle-light dinner' people, and there are hentai fans that are really extreme people (A.K.A. jerks).
And someone (I forgot who, too lazy to look back and it's hard enough to type with my fingers cold...) said something about people who hate hentai, like its something that's wrong. Those people are just idiots who can't accept things they don't like. I mean, I don't like gay porn, or bestiality, but just because I don't like it doesn't mean I have to put it down or anything.
