How Do You Act Around A Racist?

Probably a bit to do with the fact that I live in a fairly racist city, with extreme racism in it's history, but I don't care. If I hear someone telling racist jokes or even just being idly racist with words I'll laugh it off or ignore it.
People get way to caught up in it. I'm with Avenue Q. Racism is funny, and the sooner we can all just laugh it off the better we'll be for it. Actions are one thing, but idle racist banter doesn't bother me. We're all racist, we've all told a few jokes or had our otherwise racist moments, get over it.

Depends on what type of racist person they are. Passive or Active, depending on those factors I might tell them off or just ignore it.

As long as they have no intention of hurting anyone, physically or otherwise, or mistreat them for their race, I have no issue with them, opting to just ignore them.
It's a different case for racists who speak out or assault just to hurt those they're prejudice against. I have a zero tolerance policy with them, and will mercilessly hunt down and annihilate.
Thankfully, I live in the Vancouver, Canada, where diversity is prominant. You can see people from all over the world here, so racists tend to avoid this place. Occasionally some do surface, but they keep to themselves, as people around them are like me: intolerant to discrimation. There even have been cases of mild racists renouncing their prejudice when exposed to the overwhelming diversity here. The friendly people that lives helps in that regard.

First off, are we defining anyone who makes a race joke as a racist?Cause i honetsly don't mind race jokes as long as the person isn't being serious about it.
But if they are being serious, i just ignore them. For example, a former friend of mine asked me for money, and i said i didn't have any. He responded with "But your Jewish right?". Mind you he was being complete serious about it. I basically didn't talk to him after that

I dont mind race jokes just as long as the joker dont mean to offend somebody. If i saw someone being offended i would tell the joker to stop it. If its about racists that express thier hate i will argue with them and if it gets physical i will never throw the first attack. Racists do not have any right to hate people for simple being what they are.

Well if they're the racists that like to ramble about who they hate and why then I'll feel uncomfortable, talking to them will frequently simply make them go on longer. Confronting them will make them go on longer and angrier, so I just try to get away from them as soon as I can.
If they are racist but keep it to themselves then I might not like them as much, but don't really care.

My step-dad is a fucking annoying white-supremest motherfucker, but one of those that won't admit to the term, but defends himself by spouting more ignorant horse-shit! I just try to avoid starting a long conversation with him and other racist; stick to quick, simple responses that are often impossible to add onto, and hopefully they wont try to start a new topic.

I act different on different people
I'm an Asian so, sometimes I get racial insult from both white and black.
When it's a black person, I also say racist stuff, but never use the word 'nigger'
that is the last thing I will ever say like if I'm out of things to say or what black person said was the most insulting thing I have ever heard in my life.
However if it's a white guy, thing can get different. For example, if the guy happens to be a redneck (I'm sorry if this term is insulting to some people) I question his intelligence. If the guy is somewhere from some rich neighbor, well I'm of out option. I do try to say something that fits the situation but it is hard.
