On topic: If they really change in the program, why not.
But, if they show no changes, return them to prison.

I think this needs a prime axample to work off of. So here you go LINK. If you want more info on the case, do it yourself, BUT BE WARNED, DON'T watch the video. If Im correct, these are the two guys who violently murdered people on camera with a hammer correct? this is a good example of people who are psychotic and should of gotten life, or the chair, for every person like these guys there are probably a dozen that committed their crime out of necessity or desperation, not disregard for life. Do you realize that not every situation is Good choice Vs. Bad choice? What if you had to choose between the lesser of two evils? would you kill someone to preserve your own life, or would you let yourself be killed? I'm not saying all are innocent, but I think that a good amount at least regret their choice, and should be able to seek counsellings if they so choose.

I do believe that treatment in the form of counseling is offered. and i believe that treatment is the way to go.
Keep them away from society, but treat them.

Stemming from the recent sex offender thread:Is there a movement to treat the underlying causes of criminal behaviour, rather than letting the perpetrator rot for ___ years?
Child molesters are a great example. There's something deeply psychologically wrong with these people, and putting them in the can isn't going to do much. If the prison offered counseling services, followed by a full evaluation after release, then the sex offender could be allowed to return to society more fully (rather than the church, school, park bit). Conditions of their freedoms include ongoing treatment, employment, and positive recommendations from the psychiatrist.
What is your take on the issue?
Would programs like these help convicts, like sex offenders and domestic abusers?
i thought they already have counseling services in jail. well, if they don't, the family can hire the local priest(provided he's not the one in jail) or a counselor to go visit the person. not all criminals have an underlying cause that will stop them from committing crimes so if the person was released early and commits the crime again, the plan would've failed and the molester and the molested's lives could be ruined (maybe not so much the molester but definitely the molested[molestee? idk])

If the molesters killed the child after the rape, then imprisonment. If the molesters let him/her go, treatment and then like 2 months in jail for doing the crime depending on the degree of the crime.

Ummm there's a lot of anger going on here, but i think both treatment and imprisonment. I believe in a second chance, so sure live normally after you come out of jail......okay.... if you offend second time......umm still okay a very longer imprisonment or treatment.... But if you offend a third time.....i think the person should just get shot?
Edit: oh i see a Death penalty topic... maybe this belongs there...?
