Insanity

Sometimes i wonder if i'm insane because i'm so different from all the other people that i know. Viewing the world i am constantly confronted with hypocrisy and people unwilling to admit that they're wrong, or compromise on a matter. Then everyone ignores what is obviously false, at least to me, and mob mentality kicks in. I know that people might just not like me, but barring that fact, see it a lot in the relationship between parents and children. When a child speaks out against an adult they are immediately wrong and deserve to be punished even if they're right for daring to speak out against the all knowing parental authority. I'm just want to know, am i insane for seeing how wrong people can be, and should i comform to social laws that seem illogical to me, laws that everyone seems to know so much better than i and put me at a disadvantage due to my ignorance of the ins and outs of these said laws?

I live in the South of America, Horn lake, Mississippi, I won't go further than that. Why do you want to know? I give you this much, because i think you are either testing my sanity, or you want to get me help.

People see what they want to see, not what they have to see. To the eyes of many, they are correct in their views, and everyone else is wrong. We're all like that, save for a few who are willing to look outside the box, or through the eyes of others.

You're not insane, just the few who are able to see beyond what is wanting to be seen, and call out on it. You may not always be "right", but least you are the few who are willing to cross the line, and question.

Your not insane at all in fact i believe most of the laws in place are just as stupid as those that enforce them in the first place.

That is the problem. many people from the south seem to take pride in their ignorance. you can't convince them they are wrong, so don't bother trying. the best you can do is try to understand their unique form of idiocy, and use it to manipulate them. if they are religious nuts, use the many contradictions of the bible to confound them. if they assume any one that is younger them them is by default stupider, and therefore always wrong, say the opposite of what your point really is. surrender doesn't always mean failure or losing. sometimes it's better to just give up just so the moron will stop talking.

Sorry to say this my friend, but yes you are insane. You need to go to a psychiatrist and have a talk, be honest it will help you out.

You ask yourself if you are insane, but all I see is someone who is different. The day when social conformity equates to sanity will be a sad day indeed.

Someone who is insane or going insane doesn't really question if they are. Pretty sure you're just fine.

Well I think it is better to be "insane" than to be ignorant. These days people who stray from social norms are called crazy. It is just society contradicting itself. They preach freedom of speech or thought but they shun people for having a different opinion? This is Social Darwinism biting itself in the ass.

Sometimes I really get that feeling too, maybe it's pretty normal to be insane at times.

There is a law in Oaklahoma where I used to live that specifically states: it is illegal to kill whales within state boarders... I do not recall there being any whales, not even in the local zoo. So yes it is perfectly logical for there to be laws that do not seem to have a real purpose.

As everyone else has said, you aren't insane. I do think you are probably depressed, or else just inflating your ego though. I say this because I don't think that you legitimately feel you are insane, instead you are claiming it because it is a radical thing to say, and saying it will draw attention to yourself.

But on to the topic of your post: it should be obvious to anyone who has a cursory understanding of ethics that laws are only guidelines. This will never change however, because the philosophy upon which laws are founded changes too rapidly and varies too greatly from person to person for the government to keep up with it. We call this philosophy common morality in ethics, and essentially it is just the set of moral beliefs that is commonly shared by people within a society.

Laws sometimes lie outside of this set of common beliefs, and when they do I would say they are wrong. But it is difficult to define when a law has stepped outside of common morality. Usually people will protest it, as you are protesting certain laws in your post. If enough people feel the same way, public opinion will influence law makers and things change. I suggest that if you feel other people agree with the laws you don't like though, that you should try to understand what other people find agreeable in them. If you don't understand the "ins and outs" of those laws, then perhaps that is the problem and you should work on understanding them before protesting. It is difficult to be an unwilling victim of ignorance in our current age of technology and information.



Ethnocentrism at its finest. The long and the short of it is that you are wrong, and there are very many intelligent and educated people in the southern states. I should state that ironically, you are exhibiting the same style of ignorance you would accuse other people of having.

Insanity is generally nothing bad. (If you suffer under the "the voices tell me to kill everyone" insanity- get to a doctor) but the ability to see the world differently as the other "normal" people gives you a huge advantage for solving some problems. It depends on you which kind of problem that is but trust me: there is something you can solve more easyly then others thanks to Insanity

You have just seen the world for what it is.. A giant piece of shit.... "A man see what he wants to see and lives how he wants to live" so no you aren't insane your just a got a reality check on what really is happening and your probably just experiencing stress and/or problems..

the fact is: only insane people are able and willing to change "so-called right" laws. Adaptation of laws are for sane people only. Insane in this case is positive. Thanks to insane people, we can have better and better laws.

No, as a fellow person with the same circumstances i feel the same way about the world. But regardless i still speak out against them even though they use ad hominid attacks against me by making me feel bad about speaking out.

America was formed by speaking out while England(assuming the role of the parent) tried to in a sense correct the child(America).

You're not insane, you're just young. Those with youthful eyes see things with a certain type of clarity. What you should concern yourself with is maintaining the essence of that clarity while gaining life experience. As people grow older they become conditioned to the world as it is and lose sight of how it should be. It's not insane to think the way you do because you are gaining insight into the world around you. What you need to do is ask yourself whether it is a path to your own personal truth or one that has been set before you.
