[Locked] IRC Power?

Well I noticed earlier this morning Hibia has lost his 'admin' status at IRC. Why? For well over a 18 months Hibia along with his bot has kept IRC in shape, making sure what happens to the forums does not happen there. Sure I'm there, but don't think I haven't been banned before! I opt that he gets his power back, as he is the most active person on there - yes some of the other admins have been on more recently, but still Hibia is the most active! -Grim

This is not a dictatorship. A lot of discussion goes into just about everything done on FAKKU. Except for the occasional decisions I make that end up destroying the server.

How is that any better than calling someone an idiot? Not to mention it was actually on the site, rather than an off site chatroom. I'm not saying Jacob doesn't run a good site; he does. What I'm saying is that if you're going to strip power from one staff member for insulting a user, you should hold that standard to all staff members that insult a member of the userbase.

It's interestingly corporate to simply reiterate that there was more then one reason to bump Hibia, I think.

I usually like the decisions made by the Fakku staff, because most of them are intelligent decisions that come with a small explanation for why A changed to B, and I find it very strange indeed that Jacob, usually very transparent on issues concerning both the site and IRC, is going corporate opaque on this issue.

I, too, would like to file a request for more information as to what the other reasons are. As you have said, Jacob, if Fakku is not to be a dictatorship, then I personally feel that it would be proper to tell us.

I'd like to put forward that I also banned him temporarily [which isn't exactly an out-of-character thing for me to do] for stealing my username during netsplit. Pm'd him as well, but when he changed nick it didn't change on the server, so I left it banned until he reconnected. Then he rejoined.

I can't see anything else as a big issue to do directly with IRC since we've had it as a separate entity for a while now.

Probably relating to attitude if it wasn't that. A ban is basically a kick that prevents autorejoin and is lifted shortly.

I don't think anything anyone says is going to change their minds as they've replied twice with the same answer...

Kind of sucks though, Hibia was always fair to my knowledge, and if he banned someone temporarily for using his username, I think that makes perfect sense 0.o

Now I don't post to the forums often, mostly because I don't really frequent them. I'm bit more active on the #fakku though. Now without making any comments if it was right or wrong to demote Hibs(I really can't make any arguments since you all know that we are kinds buddies), if you are removing a mod, please promote new mods. Ones that actually hang in there. Now, being around that channel for about 2 years, there are not that many people I can recommend, but the names I'll PM you.

Last post I'm going to make here, I was mostly pointing out the Russian, you just assumed it was directed solely at you and responded as such.

As for the leaving comment, I said I won't be going to IRC until some order is established, not that I'm leaving it because Hibia got de-opped... 0.o
