Is anime dying on tv in the us?

My younger brother and i have never really had any problem with dubs, but i think the reason anime on cable is dying is because everybody is +50 episodes ahead from watching it online.

rather than anime dying on tvI would say that the Television as a whole is dying slowly thanks to the wave of the
"INTERNET" (dum-DUM-DumMmmmm~~)
If you think about it, How much effort would it be to braodcast a series over televison compared to the internet. This can possibly be changed if people truly protected their copyrights but this would cost money and i dont know how copyrights work internationally.
You make a good point.
A lot of TV is being made available both on TV and the internet. I suppose companies are realizing that a lot of people forgo the TV altogether and just use the internet to get what they want.
Hulu is perhaps the best example of this. It offers free (presently, but who knows what will happen in the future) TV shows on your computer, when you want them. Also, some TV stations have their shows available for free on their sites. And of course, a ton of shit can be bought on iTunes, including TV shows.
It really does seem that TV is becoming less popular.

Good point. I know probably a good 75% of the entertainment that I watch ends up actually coming to me via the internet in one shape or another. I rarely watch television anymore. My television is pretty much solely used for my 360 and when I want to watch a DVD I've either bought or burned.

Anime is not just dying in the US, it's also dying in other countries like Hong Kong. Currently anime on television is being dubbed with terrible quality. For example Suzumiya Haruhi no yuutsu there are certain scenes which is supposed to be important in the anime just simply gets censored by the television.
Not to even mention how in HKG there is pay vision and there is free content. The free content show very childish anime however in the more teenage channels my god. They even censored it no matter what happens. It's just terrible what is happening to anime outside of Japan. IF they can't keep the quality the same as in Japan then don't do it at all!!

And to be honest, I really don't care for anime on TV in the USA simply because I know that the dubs can never be better than the subbed versions, which is usually the case. Come to think of it, I stopped watching TV years ago when I had the internet and my own laptop.

Yes it is. Well either that or it's getting too Americanized and the English voices are getting more ridiculous.

I think that we, as anime lovers, need to band together and start watching anime on tv, even if we just absent mindedly leave the tv on. We need to keep it alive.

I'm not sure about the details, but I don't think a random person leaving his TV on a channel showing anime contributes to the ratings. I believe the ratings only come from TVs with Nielsen boxes, which means that if you don't have a Nielsen box, nobody knows what you're watching.
