Well, only thing I can say is: If stuff isn't licensed, they can't do much in the first place.
Edit: Disregard this, I thought it was about downloading your anime/manga.

Ok so how exactly dose having loli deserve 3 years in prison? The all important fact that there is no evidence that it dose any harm so basically the British government is getting away with banning condoms because someone says they cause athletes foot.
Banning things for no reason other then that some people don't like it is bullshit. I'm no loli fan but banning something because some people don't like it, has no place in the "free world".

Thats exactly what the people who oppose this are saying...
That even tho the people who own these... Images... might be normal law abiding citizens, they would have their records smeared for a stupid law that has no TRUE basis whatsoever...
...
IMO that is REALLY a stupid Law...

This the a prime example of the generation gap we have. The old people of the past find pretty much everything that we like/have bad. They have no reason to like it. I hope they don't, there old. But that doesn't give them reasons to ban what other people like just because they don't like it. You don't like it? Don't watch/read it. And if its a parent who caused all this. HAVE MORE CONTROL OVER YOUR KID THEN.

Yeah, the US has had a similar law since 2003, but it has very rarely been enforced. It's more of a "don't ask; don't tell" policy. As long as you aren't openly discussing cartoon pornography you will be left alone. Internet transactions are usually left alone as well, but when actually physically transporting items across the world or across state lines is a whole other issue, apparently.
I imagine the same will hold true in the UK. Just keep your fetish to yourself and no bad will happen.

Unlike the US the UK might actually enforce this ban heavily if it's passed. It's kind of messed up though that it will affect the chances for someone who is trying to get a job. When in other countries at current it doesn't have such an affect.

Sankaku article from last year, including some of the meagre Parliamentary debate. I've been following this for a while, actually. Obviously the ridiculous ambiguity of age and massive amounts of fanart are hugely problematic, but the worry is in the enforcement of the law. You would hope for something akin to the US, as Tsurayu said, but the recent Digital Economy Bill, delayed for the moment but set for reintroduction in the next Parliamentary term, would have ISPs monitor customers for 'internet piracy', and that wouldn't do the lolicon any favours. Incidentally, I wonder if this year's MCM Expo in London will have these:
There were a good number of police there for crowd control last year, before that clause had been implemented. There were also plenty of doujinshi, Haruhi oppai mousepads etc...will be interesting.
Spoiler:

I was going to have a stall there in October with about 1000 doujins (not loli obviously).
We'll see if the sellers are there this May and see what they carry =_=

It wont be long they would force japan to ban war anime (Gundam and other military anime) As they claimed after seeing those anime we will get influenced to create war.

So much for freedom no?
A picture is just a picture. It's not a real child. Still not seeing the issue here. I would be more concern with actual child pornography rather than a fake depiction of it. I would just be glad that they're going for cartoon pictures rather than the real thing.
They're picking a fight where there isn't one to be had.

well its a election year here in the uk. alot of these bullshit bills have been passed in the last 6 months. it probably won't be inforced. i'm more worry about the digtial economy act than this. sentancing is harsh on paper but in all liklyhood depending on the amount of 'child Pornography' you have you'll get community service or six months serspended sentance. got more problems with drug deals and car thefts than lolicons.
