Minimum Age for Hentai Viewers?

Hey guys, I don’t know if this has been discussed before, and I don’t plan on searching for it, because it’s probably buried but, I’ve been wondering for a little while, what do you think is the minimum age that a person should be before they can read/watch/view Hentai? I’m not talking about Governmental laws; I’m talking your personal ethics. Is it okay for Middle-aged teenagers (14-16) to read Hentai? Or should you at least be 18?

I think it should depend on the maturity level. Do you just start laughing your ass off as you walk by women, making sex jokes in front of them? Or do you treat them kindly, and respect them, letting aside the fact that you could easily imagine them as naked anime women? (I think all women who are at an age where they think about sex are mature enough for Hentai though :P) Obviously, 13 year olds that can’t really handle much shouldn’t really be exposed, but it shouldn’t matter as much if you’re 15, 16, 17 etc. Some 14 year old teenagers are more mature than some 18, 19 or 20 year old adults. These people go around and make jokes all the time.

So, what are your opinions?

Minimum age? The mimimum age will be whatever age they learn to look on a computer.

I don't think you need "maturity" to look at hentai. It's just pr0n, and everyone uses it for the same purpose.
I'm not saying this should be on national tv or anything, but it shouldn't be deprived of us either or out of our reach (wich is what seems the government is trying to do).

It can't be defined by an age. People mature at different rates. I think it should be up to them to start searching for that stuff when they think they are ready. Ideally, there shouldn't be any age requirements.

Well, that's what I'm talking about, you shouldn't HAVE to be 18+, it's as if someone invented a rule that says 18+ is how old you need to be to view it. It's like that M game thing. Some stores won't sell M games to people under 17, some rental stores have the nerve to ask for ID. ID! It's not fucking liquor.

Sites may say that you have to be 18 but that won't stop people.

Most just ask for your birthday. Cause if you're under 18, there's no way you'd know what year you were born! (Sarcasm)

Actually quite a few ask for your credit card number of you DLN to verify your age, but because people don't like to give that kind of information on the internet it isn't a popular method for age verification. Sites don't want to turn people away because of their age verificiation methods, so a lot throw that idea out the window immediately.

As far as personal ethics go, whenever they're genuinely interested in it, I guess. 14 would be an okay age with me, although possibly not the harder stuff.

Yeah, I almost feel as if some stuff is censored because they think that younger viewers are reading it.

Resident Evil 5 has censored decapitations because people (parents) were complaining that RE4 was too gory. It's a frickin' M game.

Exactly. That's basically the reason why it's stupid. I wasn't fond of the decapitations, but I wasn't against them. It was something that made you scared. Right, it made it so I didn't wanna see it happen again.

What society says:

Eighteen and over is the legal age for sex, also it's the when you are recognized as an adult in society. Sex is for adults, so that means porn is for adults as well. Sex is meant to make babies, in a biological sense.


In my own opinion:

I've watched porn/hentai since the age of 12. I don't see any harm in watching it and I won't actually rape somebody after watching porn.

16 is the age for sex here, but pr0n is still 18.

Hm, I see. Well (yes I like answering everyone, BACK OFF) society is one thing, I've always been against certain things in society. I'm sure everyone is against at least one thing in society, mainly because it tells us we can't do something we want to do. The legal age for sex is 18 in the states...I think I hear SOMEWHERE that it's 14 in Canada. Probably someone bullshitting me though. (Must research...because I must research everything)

I probably wouldn't want my 14 year old kids to play decapitation games either. I wouldn't want them to look at rape/guro/loli/... hentai either. The reason? Gut feeling, mostly. Not because I think they'll run around decapitating and raping up the people around them; simply because I think you don't have to be exposed to every kind of vile shit at this early an age.

Agreed. However, parents were complaining, but it was their own fault for buying their kids the game. Same with Hentai, if parents ever complain (which, God forbid, they will!) then we can just laugh at them and say "Too bad".

That chart is bullshit. The age of consent in the Philippines is not the age of 9. That's still in the age range of being charged for having lewd actions with a minor.
