Next Major Conflict Zone
What area do you think will see the first outbreak of armed conflict?

With recent events such as the Israeli flotilla raid and the alleged North Korean attack on a South Korean Naval vessel it seems we may be growing closer to armed conflict in several parts of the globe. Where do you think it is going to start first? Why do you think so? Do you think it'll be somewhere else? General thoughts?

Obama will be seen high fiving the south korean president (whose name I believe is Leek mai-bak). Lil' kim (a.k.a. kim jong il) will see it, after which he will proceed to sing about how ronery he is.
Leek mai-bak will henceforth be in danger because jealous lil' kim didn't get to high five obama. Missiles will be shot.
In the meantime, gaza will be too busy being fucked up, while israel will be too busy trying to get a hand-job from america.

The whole Russia/Georgia thing wasn't that long ago either (and you know what Putin and his puppet President are like), plus North Korea fired those missiles over Japan...
To be honest, I don't think you can predict something like that, because it doesn't really look like any of these nations would step beyond provocation because of the international pressure they'd come under. It's like Iran and NK would never foreseeably do anything with nukes if they actually have/had them; it's all just asserting authority on the world stage.

My vote goes to "other", but whether it'll be Pakistan, Iran, or some-place other, I have no pleasure in conjecturing.

Despite North Korea sinking the South Korean ship, I see the next major conflict zone being Israel/Gaza (even though conflict is there all the time). I see something happening there before another Korean war breaks out.
Simply because China is backing North Korea and US + Japan is backing South, would not be good. Such a conflict would probably be avoided at all cost. Most likely you'll see sanctions against the North. One article put it best. The North Koreans are like an annoying little kid brother who runs behind his bigger stronger older brother (China) at the first sign of trouble. Hate China for backing North Korea..
Not to mention, Palestine versus Israel is always sudden and not announced til the shit is hitting the fan.

I voted other. There are a lot of unstable regions that have the potential for conflict to break out. As always, the middle east is a highly volatile region, but an eye must be kept on Africa as well.
Conflict between North/South Korea won't be happening any time soon. Neither country is ready for it -- the North for obvious reasons, and the South for finally having recovered from the 1997 Asian Financial Crisis. Why plunge your country back into turmoil after a decade-long recovery from the AFC? They've weathered the current recession fairly well, and their companies are finally gaining traction globally. The last thing they want to do is start back from square one like they had to in 1998.
I wouldn't necessarily say China is backing North Korea, but they're certainly not backing South Korea/US/Japan either. They're being extremely cautious about remaining on the fence and remaining as a "neutral" party. They should be applauded for their increased diplomatic activity. The fact that they have been engaging in extensive talks with the US, South Korea, and Japan is a good sign and leaves me hopeful for our future with them.

I think Israel/Gaza is probably the next conflict zone, though it would probably be Israel v. Arabic countries, maybe not all of them, but there's a lot of tension in the Middle East, and North Africa too, at least Egypt seems very concerned. Plus, Iran is gonna be like a detonator in that region I think...
I sincerely hope it doesn't happen cause a lot of my family lives in the Middle East ...

I think it will be some random location that nobody expects except the cia cause they probably financed it.

US vs anyone bordering it (Mexico).
US troops being sent to guard the borders kill a bunch of illegal immigrants, get gun crazy and chase retreating immigrants back trough the border, cross the border, then kill some more civilians. Mexico sends troops to retaliate and kill any US soldier crossing the border. US citizens demand justice, declare illegal immigrants "enemy combatants" and round them up and send them to into gulags without trial. US then liberates Mexico and executes Mexican president for crimes against humanity and aiding terrorists (ie illegal immigrants).

Rather than that i'm more concern about the problem at the mexico gulf. Right now human are facing the most dangerous period of all time global warming if it's war it can be stop but the climate change even if all country in the world join together it will only bring another devastating problem.
The only solution is stop using fosil fuel if we can do that we can be saved from the incoming disaster. I'm just hoping that mother nature will put his plan on hold before we can undo this damaged. If you guys saying that GOD will clean it for us keep dreaming HE ain't doing anything cause HE is only a character of someone mind.
The 1st country will take damaged will be Europe if there is problem and second us the U.S

Apparently the Russians still have more than the US even if they're decommissioning old stuff.
North Korea won't provoke a war because they know they'll get steamrolled, they just sunk that South Korean dessy because they want to keep attention on themselves to be honest just a bunch of sabre rattling.
From the looks of things with NK leadership it seems that it'll slowly fall apart on its own over time.
China will probably not support them because of the economic implications that will happen if they dive headlong into another conflict.

North Korea and South Korea.
I'm Korean and man, you should read some of the articles on korean websites.
Ex:
1. A South Korean tourist (40s, female) was touring on the border of North and South Korea, and she was just taking a stroll. But at this place, there was no fence, but just a big sand hill that marked the border, and she just went up the hill and to the North Korean side without knowing. Then, she finally realized and tried to get out of North Korea as fast as she can. Two North Korean guards saw her running away from North Korea, and instantly shoots her with AK-47s, one bullet going through her chest, and one bullet through the head.
2. The ship sinking thing iast said.
North Korea is just picking fights with South Korea, and South Korea is basically preparing for the worst.

North Korea's interested in only one thing: money. They need it as much as they lack it, so gaining aid and other benefits is of interest to them. The government is basically a huge crowd of lazyasses that doesn't want to work for their money, so they take from the poor and leave them to beg for money from the rest of the world. The end result of such complete corruption is that this troubled ship can no longer be steered away to calm waters on it's own power; it needs to be towed by something bigger and stronger.
The saber rattling is just that: calling for more focus on themselves so they may eventually benefit. I personally can't see how they would turn it in their favour, but apparently uppermanagement over there seems to think they got an Ace up their sleeve, but we'll see.
On the other hand, for the soonest conflict, my money's on the Gaza Strip. Things are coming to a boil there, and it ain't for show. These guys also need money, but that's not what drives them. They're against each other at the core of their being. It's gotten to the point where you can almost call it racism on both sides. Unlike the two Korea's, Gaza's situation is that both sides are ready to unload ammo at each other at the first sign of provocation. Unlike Korea, they'll skip the politics and let their AK's do the speaking. When there's such a breakdown in communication, conflict is not far.

Neither Korea nor Israel. Nor any place on Earth.
Well, there's always an "armed major conflict" there, so it wont count. And all those "terrorist" around them are a bunch of cowards, they just waited for Israeli to snap and then use the world to back them, unarmed civilian blah blah blah.. (At least I should credit them for playing such a great strategy)
Korea (particularly South) wont go to war. They just can't afford to lose the "stability" they had know. Any war will be bad for South Korea. Well, North has been impoverished, but the South.. They had MUCH more to lose, and if they did win, they had to feed all those North Korean. That's like halving South Korea's GDP per capita, even worse. And there's China, they will not let NK gone..
