Police anti-riot brutality
if a riot were to occur, what do you think the police will do to suppress it?

Ah yes... the police anti-riot squad... equipped with large, rectangular riot shields that protect them, a baton for offense, and the occasional heavy gear if things go out of control.... but the big stick here is this:
i know when a mob runs riot, then local police would try to dissipate them BY ALL MEANS... whether you are innocent or involved in the mob, they will, and i mean THEY WILL strike you down without mercy, and when a person is down, they would whack the hell out of the person like they were angry at them instead of stopping them with their shields, pushing them back or use the damn tear gas to dissipate the crowd... but no... they'd prefer beating the hell out of the rioteers, not caring if they are old or young for if you were one of them, you go down with them is what they see... they're even willing to deploy a firetruck to spray them for a more 'less lethal' suppression... yeah right... pressurized water can subdue a person, but few are hard-built to counter that...
Ah the instance of police brutality... Peacekeepers, they say... yeah right... when it comes to the riots, they lose that rep... dont you think?

In all honesty, rubber shot, batons, and tear gas are very effective at controlling Ohio State Fans-err...violent rioters. Look at the Rodney King riots, sometimes the only thing that protected people were AR-15s!

I'm not sure about police actions but it got bad enough to the point where some homeowners and business owners were using AR-15s in castle doctrine.

In all honesty, if it gets to the point where a mob of people reach that level of violence, it would be their own damn fault for getting caught in the mixup and becoming injured. Doesn't matter if there's collateral damage in which innocents get hurt, whatever it takes to stop unrest and unruly mobs. I'll admit there are times when the police can get carried away though, especially if their fellow officers are injured during said riots.

In my country option 1, 2 and 4 do happen. I don't quite get the 3rd one though.

I've never seen the fire truck technique being applied in my country. What we do here, is a combination of 1 and 4. The police throw tear gas at the rioters, trying to disperse the crowd and downing some people in the process.
Then, when the first row of policemen tramples passes the fallen protesters, the officers following the shield wall, proceed to beat the crap outta anybody still awake, before finally throwing them in the trunk of the squad cars.
But I suppose that's the standard procedure anywhere. Lol, police brutality.

I lived through martial law, and witnessed (and occasionally participated) in rallies being dissipated with tanks, live ammo, bombs, and student leaders "disappearing." It wasn't as bad as tiananmen, but it was still pretty harrowing. I was young and stupid and didn't really appreciate how much it would hurt if the soldiers just said "fuck this shit" and ran over me with a tank. These days there is no way I'd get into that kind of trouble again, no matter how bad the government gets.
So, as for the poll above, I think all those options are pretty mild.

Hmmm...you sounded a lot more agressive before.
I apologise if I sounded too big of a pansy, but my parents have lived through a military dictatorship and had friends who also ''dissapeared.'' Though I was born shortly after it ended, their tales and pretty much everyone else's (media included) made me somehow infatuated with any kind of government opression.

I don't see much problem as long as their not outright killing people then there is no problem. Riots serve to destroy peace and order, they need to be suppressed quickly or they will cause utter chaos.
Innocent civilians aren't in the middle of a riot (most of the time) those people are rioter,s and so they are now criminals and should be treated as such. If I was in the middle of a riot I would not be out getting groceries. I would be in my room protecting my own shit, out of the way of the police when they come and suppress the rioters.

Option 1, 3 and 4 are the most commonly used here in the States.
Police can be pretty fucking brutal in a riot or a protest turned violent. I've seen news crews assaulted in the middle of a report. I don't really like violent protests but, sometimes anger at a subject boils over and a few instigators cause all the trouble. Though sometimes, when I watch one of those cop shows about riots I'm rooting for the rioters.
on a side note:
First rule for an innocent protester caught in a protest turned riot. Find a wall or similar surface. Crouch and put your hands over your head. Basically, do the old duck and cover bomb drills from school. That will show the police that you aren't a rioter just a protester caught in the middle. From there they will tell you what to do. Worst case scenario is you get arrested but, that's better than taking a rubber bullet or a bean bag to the chest.

I'd rather get beaten, eventually something will catch their interest and I'll get the hell out of there. I've seen a few videos where anybody who can't run fast, innocent or no, get the shit beat out of them. Law enforcement has more or less been set up where the "law" can be enforced without impunity, at least here in the States.

it depends on what the riot is about and how big it is. If it's a small protest for rising prices or something, then it'll be tear gas. If it's big or anything related to politics, the rioters are gonna get their asses kicked nya~.

I think, if not for few good riots, society would have collapsed a long time ago.
I'm a little PO'd about some of the "non lethal weaponry" they work with, but I think a wall of gas and baton are effective enough. Getting clocked hurts, but there is too much innocent casualties in rubber bullet usage.
And, rioting is a good way to get your head after your team loses.

non-lethal... yeah right... a rubber bullet or beanbag to the chest really REALLY hurts, not to mention it can destroy ribs and the sternum because of the impact...

I'd take a bean bag over a bullet any day. I would rather have a welt, bruise or possible a broken nose or rib over having some small metallic object I don't want in me forced inside my body at very high speeds. They may not quite be non-lethal but, less lethal isn't exactly a good marketing campaign.
Though I am intrigued by the non-lethal sonic crowd dispersal technology that is being worked on. It's better than a bean bag or a bullet any day and the only way for you to get seriously hurt is if you don't move the hell out of the way.

Well first of all you should be wearing a gas mask then tear gas them then go in with nightsticks or cattle prods.
