Political Action (US)

Reading and rereading all the threads relating to SOPA, NDAA and hearing the references to the PATRIOT act, so on and so forth, I've come to a conclusion that any politically-driven individual would, the members of Fakku have spoken and spoken out in outrage towards these abominations of laws. As a former soldier it sickens me to think about our nation doing things like this, but like it or not, it's the inherancy of our situation. This brings up a question in my mind, "what are we going to do about it?" I have a modest suggestion and an ambitious plan, why not collaborate on abolishing these laws and preventing the ones that are on the table from passing? I have a bold idea, the formation of our own political action committee and lobbying against it. Sure it's ambitious, but bigger things have happened. I'm not saying that I want to head this proposed committee, there are probably people more qualified than I to lead it and I'd support whoever the community chooses as a spokesman unconditionally, should we actually take action on this. I've heard, read, watched and learned too much about the restrictions on our fundamental freedoms as Americans, no as human beings. We clearly won't stearns for this, so all that's left to do is take action. We have resources at our disposal, man-power and time to change things regardless of how hard it may be. This may seem ridiculous, but what's worse, honestly attempting to take back our freedoms and possibly failing, or leaving it in the hands of others and hoping for the best?
I realize how massive of a challenge this would be, but it's worth it. We have writers, artists, students, graduates, workers, professionals and so on. Let's differentiate ourselves from anonymous, we're individuals with names, lives and quantifiable numbers. We can do this, it's just a matter of "will we?"

Speaking in outrage has zero impact in politics unless the politician you voted for listens.
In other words, vote someone else in power next time, someone more in line with your political views.
In addition, I have sneaking suspicion that a large portion of Fakku is actually below voting age, making all this "outrage" even more pointless unless an US version of Arab Spring comes of it... but I doubt it.

These committees already exists.
They're called called the senate and congress.
The "community chosen spokesman" already also exists, and is called the president.
If you're talking about another group that lobbies for the
"interests of the community", then that's what the Tea Party and OWS are trying to do.
I realize how massive of a challenge this would be, but it's worth it. We have writers, artists, students, graduates, workers, professionals and so on. Let's differentiate ourselves from anonymous, we're individuals with names, lives and quantifiable numbers.
It is, so vote for the politician that does the right thing, rather than the popular or profitable thing.

This is a democracy last I checked and unless Gerrymandering got ridiculously bad between elections that we couldn't at least drum up enough support through a combined effort in a grass roots campaign to remove 51% of the people who voted for the bill, not even 51% of the house or senate, just enough to call committee action and filibuster until the law is removed? It's possible, it's just never going to happen if you just say that it can't be done.

Whatever, I tried, I'm exhausted from working last night and still not having slept, dealing with done some suicidal bitch I don't care about, wondering if my Step-Dad is going to break down my door looking for my Mom because he's a fucking psychopath, I'm tired of not bring in college because I have to pay the bills because my Mom can't work and I refuse to live at home, tired of mediocrity and tired of having no friends here because I work all the goddamned time and losing rep because I was trying to be hopeful, but whatever. Merry Christmas guys now I'm going to sleep and hopefully when I wake up it won't be to my step-father with a goddamned bat. I'm sorry, I'm just stressed and not thinking, I didn't mean to be insulting, that wasn't cool of me.

There's a difference between being a realist in idealism and being a fool in idealism ; at that point it just becomes ignorance.
I'd rather be rational about it than engage in the fallacy of slacktivism.

Meh You do understand the predicament we're in right? We are 3 million petitioners short to do anything about SOPA and the same for the NCAA if it wasn't already approved to be signed and put into effect. We aren't In a position to fight legally even if we were to get quadruple the amount of peititioners we have gained in the past few months. No matter how many times you try to rile your peers up we simply need to concede we have lost this battle and try to salvage what we have gained. What we can do that potentially saves us from whatever they may throw at us is continue to do illicit acts that countermand whatever is passed.Whether bypassing the censors or forming anti-government or obstructing enforcement of whatever they plan to do with this act we can still win.We need support for these actions now, not this bullshit false fighting.Like hell if screaming at them will do anything, picket all you want fool, I propose we take action against this tyrannic power.

Honestly that does mean a lot to me.

What would give me the right to insult you?In times like these where our very livelihood is in danger we don't have time to be attacking our own allies. Right now on the as we stand on the precipice of defeat and freedom is at its very deathbed, we must be united and fight together or we shall inevitably die together.

Honestly this was just a bad idea spawned from lack of sleep and an excess of stress, somehow I just wasn't to do something, but Anesthetize is right and I've got toadmit that, it also might help if my room wasn't 80-some, I hadn't been trying to quit smoking and the countless other things I've got going on. Hopefully after reading the rest of this someone will see it fit to bring my rep back to zero, but I'm not holding my breath.

Frankly, Mr. Kip. American Citizens are not soldiers, they do not know what it means to "fight in the trenches", to overcome obstacles. The gradual loss of libertys have been that, gradual and universal in respect(as compared to individualism). The Individual Theory is also why it's been hard to get a truly universal movement. For who is going to stand, knowing that they'll be a political martyr? There have been those who've advocated a conservative form of government and have pointed out the dangers inside the homeland, rather than be appreciated the so-called U.S. Political Media has acted in the form of the Kremlin. In light of this political opposition, it will have to take a much bigger force, a much bigger unity.
But who is willing to stand in such a capacity? The Ron Paul Movement has gained traction and steam because of it's consistent message and the limiting intent of the movement. However, the former Constitutional Republic died in a span of 100 years and you can argue it died shortly after WW2. In my mind, due to the Political Apathy that allowed the death of the First American Republic, long since increased in it's intensity, the new Constitutional Republic will fade just as quickly and as soon as the public trust is restored and political sense renewed to eternal slumber.
The New American Government, must ensure that it will stand the test of time and that corporate entities can no longer access political and social influence to shape the homeland's direction. It must also then, engage the will of the people and to make them feel like America is an investment to them. Americans aren't invested in America, frankly it's too much of a bother for them. Hence, the politicians who wrap themselves around a flag during Election Year are trusted.
For example, Fatman calls the "institutions" the Senate and the Congress. And who exactly passed SOPA and the National Defense Authorization Act(and the Patriot Act in Sept of 2002), Casper the Friendly Ghost? No, the Senate and the Congress. Not only have they betrayed the homeland in deliberately giving power to the executive but the little power they've retained for themselves has been used for their own comfort and for their own empowerment. Meaning effectively, there's no checks and balances. "Politicalism" has destroyed the System.
A Politician, or a man invested in a "political theory" is not capable of this great duty, in fact he's wholly not interested! He's a salesman whose job is to maintain the corporate line and how well he does his "job" is concurrent to political support and a hell of alot of money. For example, Americans have universally concurred that they hate the state of the Senate, over 88% of Americans disfavor Congress in some shape or form and yet
43%-to-50% would vote for a candidate or another, from that same exact institution! **butts head into brick wall**
HELLO, do you really think that as soon as this candidate escapes from the borg hive of the Politicized Parliament that he'll all of a sudden "hold our best interest at heart."!? Furthermore, assuming our checks and balances were in place and taking into consideration the current state of Congress even if you were to elect say Ron Paul, unfortunately you still have the blockages of the Corporate Democrats and Republicans and I think about 1.5% of Americans have a clue about a Third Party never mind voting for one.
We as Americans need to realize something: We can't fix the System, there's no Salvation for it. It has been sabotaged, stolen from us and it is effectively broken short of a country wide revolution. We can't be divided among party lines or racial and sexual prejudices any longer to combat this corporate political system.
We have to be devoted, just as if not more so than our Fathers to the Homeland and ONLY to this Homeland. Our Founders told us that if it ever got to this sorry state, that we had the right to exercise to create a new form of governance for our own happiness. That governance must be of the ALL, not for the few.
