Political Correctness Destroying Society?

Is PC destroying society today?

Its pretty evident IMO, that it is by all means destroying society in all aspects of the spectrum. From limiting our language to governing how prejudice is handled. Is PC just liberal propaganda for politics?

For example using Muslims in cartoons is anything but illegal, yet why do we as society frown upon it as wrong? It seems PC has created a new non-legally binding law of us not being able to use Muslims in cartoons. Or how ethnic minorities are abusing the system of PC as if it is the law these days. I am quite frustrated with how our society is developing and is heading towards these days, in which it is mostly in-part thanks to propaganda machine of PC.

My main bone to pick is how come in modern society it is becoming everly difficult to tell the difference between what is the law and what is PC. Since when and why is it PC, not the law, that governs what we can say and act by.

What is your view on PC?

I like to think that the world is a bit better now that you can't call a person a nigger, or a monkey, or a pak, or a chink, or whatever slur without being called up on it. I don't miss the days where your skin color determines how much respect you get.

I see it at some kind of necessary evil. PC faggotry in the work place is understandable. PC faggotry in politics... well, it goes without saying.

I wouldn't be so dramatic as to say it's destroying society, but it is contributing to a more castrated country where feelings are more important than free speech.

I think its gone too far. I read in the papers over Christmas that a ROMAN CATHOLIC school sent out letters saying that they were not doing a Nativity play to be PC and that they were not to refer to Christmas as Christmas but as the "winter holidays" In the same paper there was an advertisement for an Eid festival.

Now don't get me wrong I'm not religious and people can believe what ever the fuck they want but surly you see why this is wrong!

This. This fucking pissed me off sooooooooooo fucking much! When I was in HS, it was alos the gay faggoty 'winter holidays'. Now, we did have several Muslims and a few Jews, and it was Ann Arbor, but still...man, this is AMERICA! For the last 200 years it's been Christmas, and it still is! I'm hardcore atheist, and it's still Christmas! Come on, with commercialization, you people actually think that there's any real, honest religious meaning left?

And a fucking Roman Catholic school? The Catholics? The Evil, boy-raping empire of faggotry and criminally-negligent, moneybag assholes? They wanted to be PC? PC to who? Who the fuck would go to a fucking Catholic School, if...THEY...WEREN'T...FUCKING...CATHOLIC!?!?!? Why the fuck would anyone in the fucking-wide world give a fuck about how a Catholic school celebrates Christmas?

I loled at this, we are actually having an election this week and the pissants are scared that Tories might actually get in this year, but I'm not sure anyone can fuck this country up any worse so I'm not too worried.

Political correctness is like censorship; people always act like it's completely evil and an all-or-nothing sort of thing.

Should I get fined for saying "fuck" on the sidewalk? No. Should I be able to say "fuck" on daytime TV? I certainly cannot see any pros for it, and I can see a lot of cons. So, yeah, we probably shouldn't be allowed to say "fuck" on Oprah.

Without any sort of political correctness, we'd still have sports teams called "Redskins" and "Savages," with Native Americans as their mascots. If we have a team called "the Savages," we're really not working towards equality, are we? Quite the opposite, because we're letting a group of people belittle another, for no reason.

Political correctness can go too far, but so can everything else. It's not destroying society - if anything is, people are, and they are simply using PC as a means.

There is a difference between a black man and a nigger. A black man is someone like Morgan Freeman, someone who has made something of himself. A nigger is someone who's black and acts like a wanna-be gangster and/or rapper, who takes pride in committing crimes such as beating his ho and dealing drugs. May also be on welfare.

Ah Political correctness, the plague of western society. A disease that leaves the body healthy but, destroys the mind. Like a cancer it spreads slowly and almost undetectably through the body until death is assured. P.C. is changing the American society from within, and the citizens of this nation are increasingly censoring themselves and losing their freedom of speech out of fear of some soft of punishment.

Political correctness is the narrowing of the variety of acceptable opinions to those held by a small group that enforces it. It is a attempt, often successful, to coerce the majority to accept the opinions of the enforcing group by suppressing any contrary opinion and making independent thought unacceptable.

Some people like to say that P.C. terms make society better since you can't say certain words that have "negative connotations". What about calling someone obese? Yep, Political correctness is now going to prevent people in England from telling a fat little fuck that he is fact a fat little fuck but, instead that they are at an "unhealthy weight".

Political correctness is simply coddling someone because they don't have thick enough skin to handle "negative words". I don't care if the Team from Washington is called the "Red Skins" and neither do most N.A.'s or people with blood ties. Hell, some "Indians" fight the protesters who call for the removal of such "offensive" mascots. I think if your School is "Cherokee" something or other and your mascot is a brave or some sort of warrior. Make sure to use Cherokee symbols instead of some Sioux or Navajo symbols.
