Psychological Manipulation!!!!

Hasn't it ever came to mind that sometimes what you watch on television are the things you later inherit as a personality or copy the things they do?
Video games are in some cases ( not sure rare) that influences the mind to buy a gun and kill people or they picture themselves in the game and when they lose they die ( literally).. so I been hearing
So what do you guys think about it? Are entertainment (TV , Video games etc.) the cause of young minds being manipulated

Unless your 5, video games won't make you buy a gun and kill people. Violent people are violent, it's not like because someone watches TV or plays video games they're FORCED to do it, they're just either insane or incredibly violent (One might argue they're the same)

Well I think it depends on what kind of person you are. I'd say for the majority of people the answer would be no. I (along with many others) watch plenty of movies and shows with violence and I've played my fair share of GTA. This doesn't that I'm going to start running around shooting people and taking their cars. I think sometimes perhaps people that suffer depression or lack of confidence or are just mentally unstable allow themselves to become enchanted in these fictional scenarios. After doing this long enought (and espacially if they did some sort of drug befor-hand) they would be more likely to "snap" and start rampaging.

I would have to say no based on your evidence and logic. If it was the case that children are fragile enough to be influenced by sources such as video games, then they would be psychotic and destitute because of failure to comprehend music, would immediately become a jihadist extremist upon listening to the news, and try to grow tentacles to rape people after looking at hentai. As these things do not generally happen through the associated cause, through common sense and deduction television does not effect the populace's personality or decisions.Oh and to add, your statement was young minds being manipulated which generally implies children, whereas your evidence has no age or any factual base as not only can children not generally find or buy guns if they were in a normal state of mind but people do not normally picture themselves in games and die.

So are we all under the same opinion that Tv and video games does NOT influence a person in any way?

You simply can't say that video games and movies have no influence at all. As to whether that effect is bad or not, I'd say it depends on the person.

I agree it depends on the person how he or she takes it.....

But there is some sense by mentioning young minds... I dont necessarily mean children since young implies to those who are not fully matured ( kids, teens, close to being an adult) those kind..... since its very effective to children at a young age it can influence a person later on in life and how he deals with it.....

I'd rather say media influence your moral and political opinion. This can either be seen in a positive way or in a very negative way. The moral is mostly influenced in the childhood, like if you see much violence you also tend to be violent later on - of course TV shows can also teach about sympathy and generousity etc.
In my opinion those daily consumed media like the boulevard news paper are quite a bigger danger to morality than video games. People play video games knowing they are fiction, and mostly never adapt to the habits shown there.
People who read those boulevard magazines think they show reality, and, honestly speaking, I don't think most of the readers have the intellect to question the content. And if I see these big fat headlines, agitating against social minorities, distorting the reality with badly-researched reports and destroying existances of innocent persons, I know who is to blame for a downfall of morality.

To some extent, our surroundings can affect our behaviour. We're most impressionable when we're young and that's the best time to be taught the concept of "morals". Humans are copycats by nature, we copy other people's mannerisms and we develop a bond with our parents first, and then we see them as some sort of father/mother figure. You could say it's a form of "imprinting", similar to how birds see the first thing they see as its mother.
The media can affect anyone at any age. Just watch the news and you'll most likely believe everything they printed/shown on TV.
Games can affect people's behaviour as well, but not to the extent that the media would have you believe. In fact it's quite rare that anyone actually copies anything violent from games unless they're angry, violent and quite clearly have alot of issues.
This is a bit off-topic here and I'm probably going to touch sensitive ground, but nowadays there's too much buzz going around about "censorship" on TV. When it comes to music videos, then that's understandable. You see more flesh on there than a graveyard. But most children's TV shows are being dumbed down to the point of retardation in an attempt to meet some sort of cotton-wool-wrapped standards, and most likely contributing to making the next generation morally retarded. Nowadays in TV shows, children don't get taught the importance of the consequences of wrongdoing, they're just told they have to do the right thing and most are left asking themselves why into their older age, which can lead to them rebelling or getting involved in the wrong crowds of people.
But most of all, it really all depends on the person themselves how they let their environment and TV shows affect them. There really is no real way of telling when it comes down to it.

It's because the media releases a few extreme stories related to this that people believe it's a bigger problem than it actually is.
You don't see often people following in the steps of Grand Theft Auto and jumping off a skyscraper thinking they'll somehow get glitched and land safely.
