Should Mark Zuckerberg the face of Time's Person of the year
Who deserved the title?

Or perhaps Julian Assange?
I believe Assange should have been the true Person of the Year. Zuckerberg was indeed a very influential person that influenced the history, but I still believe Assange had more imapact worldwide.
Which person do you believe should have won the title? Why? And please do note that a person does not have to be a person that did good, so the argument that Assange did harm more than good is invalid. The Person of the Year is based on someone who INFLUENCED the people and the world.

Honestly I think Zuckerberg did deserve it. While there are tons of people out there who influenced the world, none of those can compare to what Facebook is, has been, and will be. Right now it's connecting a shit-load of people, and that population is growing. It's changing the way that humans look at socializing and their connections with other people: one of the most basic parts of being alive. This huge impact will most likely grow as time goes on. It is this change that he caused and that dwarfs other events/ideas (including Wikileaks) in scale that makes him the obvious choice.

Mark Zuckerberg is totally Awesome...!!This is Serious Discussion. Try using more than one sentence.
Zuckerberg should definitely be Person of the Year. He managed to bring people together in a way that hasn't existed yet. Facebook has done a lot of good, but also brought about a lot of trouble (employees getting fired over what is said over Facebook etc..)
Facebook is now a world-wide phenomenon with over 500 million users. It's quite amazing. There are several books written about it's influence. This goes beyond just a place for people to hang or talk to each other on. It's wide used by companies, organizers and just about everyone else. Facebook basically started a trend which everyone is trying to copy. Things like Twitter has Facebook to thank for it's popularity.
Assange is just a rl troll. Nothing he did was worth noting in history books. All he managed to do was piss off the American government. Nothing more. Those "attacks" by WikiLeaks supporters will just be a tiny spec in internet history. All they managed to do was bring down a few websites for a couple of hours. Sooner or later, everyone's going to forget about it.

How about those folks that have apparently successfully cured someone of AIDS?
That's a pretty fuckin big deal.

Well he did become the worlds youngest billionaire. I wish I could disagree with making him person of the year but his contributions truly have revolutionized the way we communicate with one another. Sure it's mostly used by teenagers to TyPe LyKe DiS or likeee tttthis, but it still is an amazing program that is only going to continue to evolve and change. Just look at how it alone has changed media. Fascinating.

Exactly.
They're just giving people what they want, in these "Person of the Year" thing.

While "The Social Network" made him look like a top notch ahole ( which I don't doubt a sec he was)
He has made mayor progress in the whole connecting people thing, with facebook he has cannnected a lot of people. (in my opinion)
While he does kinda sorta deserves it, I think there could've been other people that really did something outstanding.

Facebook has been around for most of this decade but the movie put the spotlight on him this year. I'm too lazy to check right now but I wonder if Time-Warner has a financial stake in whatever company put the movie out. He definitely didn't invent social networking. This "changed the way people interact with each other" stuff is pretty much just marketing copy.
