I think that's cause I grew up on that stuff though so I have that perception of it.
In Japan they are definately more lenient with everything so even family anime there can have doujinshi or something even if they're young in it. There more open minded considering sex IMO

It all boils down to people wanting a reason for violence that doesn't include bad parenting. Or, to be more broad, a reason for anything that is frowned upon by society. When a parent sees his or her child doing something "bad," like beating someone up or looking at lolicon, the parent tries to find a way to pass the blame onto something else. That way, he/she won't feel guilty or be called a bad parent.
