Stem Cell Research Support or No?
Do you think it was a smart choice?

Stem cells can now be grown and transformed into specialized cells with characteristics consistent with cells of various tissues such as muscles or nerves through cell culture. Highly plastic adult stem cells from a variety of sources, including umbilical cord blood and bone marrow, are routinely used in medical therapies. Embryonic cell lines and autologous embryonic stem cells generated through therapeutic cloning have also been proposed as promising candidates for future therapies.
I for one support it I don't know why they would ban it but I believe this have a future if given more thought and time. Stupid people Choose their own moral over the world but luckily Obama lifted it on May 9th any thoughts?

The current ban (as far as I know, it may have changed in the last year) is specifically for embryonic stem cell research.
I'm for Adult stem cell research but, I disapprove of the embryonic.
From my current knowledge of the subject, Adult stem cell research has claims to be more productive and doesn't cause the destruction of potential human lives.
I won't push the whole "what counts as a human" argument. As we already have one of those going on.
Edit: I'll post some studies or articles later after I acquire some sleep.

I support the stem cell research, adult or embryonic.
Just like FPoD, I don't want to bring back the "what counts as a human" argument...but let's just say in this my conclusions are different than him, hence my support to the embryonic stem cell research.

Even when Obama announced he was doing this, he said that morals and ethics still need to take precedent over scientific facts - that keeping humanity in our research is still as important and more so than making discoveries.
I believe that we can find cures and do it in a way we our proud of - have my cake and eat it too so to speak.

This ties in with my abortion beliefs. It's not sentient by the time it's 'harvested', so why not?

I'm fine with it, and I support embryonic stem cell research as well.
I really don't know what more to say. Anyone who has read even one of my posts in SD knows I'm not even slightly religious or morally bound, so I'm not even going to bother saying why I think it is okay. *shrugs*
And I'm certainly not going down the road of "what qualifies a human" either. Everyone thinks differently, there isn't even a scientific answer to the question because scientists disagree as well... Just ugh.
