I believe I made a thread about Norman Borlaug back when he died; mostly because it was around the same time as all those celebrity deaths, and everyone was crying about Patrick Swayze, and only two people I know had any idea Borlaug had died, or even who the hell he was. I like Roadhouse too, but I don't think it ever saved anyone's life.
So yeah, more people should know who he is. Although there is an argument to be made for it being a bad thing to save so many lives.

I really like his quote about elitist environmentalists. Most of it can really be applied to many different situations as well...

There are two types of environmentalists in my eyes. The people like us average Joes and Janes who want to make changes in our own behavior to help out. Like the guy who installs solar panels on his roof so he doesn't have to use power from carbon emitting coal plants. Or drives an economy car instead of a full sized one. Then we have the elitists who claim they care about the environment but, really have some sort of political interest (money, station) and are willing to potentially starve thousands of people, for a species of frog. You know, because they care.

I never even heard of this guy until this thrend, how come the ones that are passionate and determined to make others life better are so underappreciated...

There is actually no solid evidence outside of religious documents that Jesus was a real, individual person. It is more likely that Jesus is a character developed out of the best traits of several people.
