Walking Down The Street

So you're walking down the street and you find $50 on the ground the new game you want and it will cost you exactly $50 but you see up ahead a homeless man and he is beging for food in front of fast food resturaunt. What would you do go help him and buy some food for him and not get the game or buy the game and not help at all?
Please be honest don't reply the morely correct one unless you'd actually do it.
I never give homeless people money, but if they ask me for some food I always try to help them. When I lived in Oregon their was a homeless guy outside of a "Carl's JR" and he was asking for food but people kept walking buy finally I told him to come in with me and get whatever he wanted and to go large. He seemed to be surprised but you could tell he was thankfull.

If he/she was begging for food, I'd buy them food and give it to them, instead of giving them the money alone. I've heard people talk about giving money to the homeless begging for food, then they spend the money on alcohol instead of food, so buying the food for them would be a better choice imo.
Games can wait.

I'd have the $50 for the games, and buy him some food with my own money..
1. You didn't say that I don't have any money with me
2. Food didn't cost that much
And.. In reality, I never give food to beggars, even though sometimes I give money instead.. The reason is, they're always grouping in quite a large numbers, begging for food/money... If I treat one of them, what should I do to the rest of them?..

I would take the money even if there wasn't a game I wanted coming out. Then again I'm pretty poor...and just a terrible person. Also yeah, I don't really trust what a homeless person would use the money for. Me using the money on booze is better than them using the money on booze, afterall I don't have a drinking problem.

At most, I'd buy $5 worth of food, give it to the man. Giving $50 to a transient is just asking for trouble on several levels. Having worked for a long time with the economic lower classes, such an amount will be viewed with suspicion by the honestly hungry, eyed greedily by the rest if within the company of a large group (ie, give a street urchin some money, it will be stolen by the bigger bullies), or spent unwisely (drugs, alcohol). I'd never give money, since likely it will just be stolen.
Then I'd try to scrounge up another $5 for the game.

I'd never give money to a beggar. Call me selfish but where I live most beggars "works" for one small crime syndicate or another, turning in parts of what they can gather for a place to stay and drugs or alchohol. Thats how it works here. I can, on occasion buy this magazine that some homeless people sells, they cost about 5€ and 4€ go to the one selling it. And the criteria for them to be allowed to sell these magazines is that they are clean from addictions.
Sadly these magazines are utter rubbish and I'll usually throw it in the nearest trash-can.

I would take the money for myself, but then again, I'm also a bad person.
I'm sure there are some homeless beggars who are genuinely just down and out, especially around here in Michigan, what with the shit economy, but there are just as many that are less than honest about things. This one time, I was coming out of a McDonalds, and this guy was outside and asked me for a McChicken, and I didn't have one, but I offered him an apple pie, to which he said, "no thanks, I really just wanted a McChicken." I figure you can't be too desperate if you are picky about what you are eating.

I'd take the money and ignore the bum, but not because I'm a bad person. (I'm not bad in this instance, at least. I'm pretty terrible at other times.) I just need the money. I wouldn't spend the money on a game though. Chances are, I wouldn't spend the money at all. I'd go home, tell my family that I found it, and put it in my wallet. Within a week, someone would ask to borrow the money for gas or something, and I'd give it to them. I'd rather they take money that I didn't even earn than borrow it from a friend or go without food so they can buy gas so they can drive to work.
It's a dog-eat-dog world, and I have to live accordingly. I value my family's well-being over a bum's. I'm not going to say that the bum doesn't deserve the money or that he would waste it, but I'm not going to give it to him. Plain and simple. If my family was well off, I probably would give him half the money, but if my family has to worry about rolling pennies to buy food or gas to get to work, no fucking way. I don't have to see the bum being stressed out every day.

I would just buy him like $20 worth of food. Giving him money is like giving a monkey a loaded gun (but in this case the monkey is a homeless person and the gun is alcohol). I've seen enough drunk bums to know that giving them money is pretty much worthless. Giving him food is another thing.
I would then save the rest of $30 because I'm not doing financially well myself.

I'd take the money for myself, no doubt, game coming out or not. Does this make me a bad person? I think not. I'm just human and have little need or reason to care for a stranger, homeless or not. Satisfying myself is my primary objective.

Being financially well off, I feel very much obligated to help the less privileged. I'd wouldn't give him the money, but I'd buy him some food, to ensure that he doesn't use the money wastefully - makes me and the beggar happy. Win-win situation; I love people.

Honestly, I would just take the money for myself due to the fact that 98% of the bums from my area only want to get their fix (be it alcohol or drugs). The like to ask for money at every corner of the street for "food", but when you buy them some food, most of those idiots would just throw whatever you bought them to the trash. This happened to me on two different occasions.
There's also the fact that these bums like to pose with signs on their necks saying things like: "I have AIDS" or any other type of sickness, in order to get more money (one day one bum has "AIDS", and the other week the same bum have "cancer" or something like that). I hate those kind of beggars.
Mind you, I'm talking about the bums from where I'm from, don't know if all of them are like that.

There's a flaw in the situation. It was never stated that you were not carrying money on your person when you found the 50 bucks.
Since I will consider myself lucky for finding $50, I should be generous enough to give some spare change to the poor hobo WITHOUT touching the $50 I found.
But if its stated that I don't have money when I found the $50, I'll just buy something cheaper like porn mags and food then give some leftover money to the hobo. I don't like giving freely to the poor, but I don't like wasting every money I have on a single object.

Honestly... Unless it's an AC2 case in which i've waited on the game long enough to be selfish i WILL buy the man something to eat. However, not junk food, i'd buy him some fruit or something. That way he'll get some vitamines to boot.
If there was a big group of them there... I'd do nothing, i won't go spending 50 dollars in 5 seconds to fill them all up, and picking one out will just alienate HIM from the rest.

Much like most people here, I'd keep it but ask the guy if he wants some food from the nearest outlet. Wouldn't give him money, because again they often get by on very little food and quite a lot of drugs, alcohol etc.

This. Pretty much exactly this.

I would ask the bum if he had change for $50.
No but really, $50 for me would be too much to give away to someone I don't know. Of course he would be thankful, but what would he do with it? Of course he could buy a week's supply of good food, but he could also buy several bottles of liquor too.
It becomes a question of whether he'll better himself with the money I gave him. Not to mention I find people begging for money intimidating.
However, if he looked all sober and depressed in the corner, not pestering me for money, I would feel bad for not giving him anything to cheer him up. I guess in the end I would give him the $50. Who needs a game anyway?

I more leaning towards giving it to the man. The only thing is that sometimes it might just be a scam, however it could be a man who is a fresh homeless or a homeless who might just be very tired. But if there's a code of the homeless, and that's why you don't see many begging. Maybe I shouldn't give my money. Could be a possibility.
I wouldn't give him 50 bucks though, maybe just like 15. You can get a lot of food on the dollar menu I've heard. After reading what you guys said, buying the food for them is an excellent idea.
