What do you think about immigration in the U.S./other

hey guys. I lived in the U.S. for 10 years now; but i became undocumented as the adoption (i was adopted by my aunt, who is an U.S. citizen) fell through.
I'm just curious if people care about immigration policy in their country at all (doesn't have to apply to the U.S. only). I used to be hopeful about new immigration policy such as the Dream Act, but lost faith due to politics.
What do you guys think about undocumented people or illegal immigrants? Do you think that they should be punished/given a chance toward citizenship/ do you guys have any solution to solve the problem?

Illegal Immigration is a touchy subject. But in the end it's "Illegal" for a reason. I could write a couple of pages long but i'll try to keep things short. It hurt's the economy (along with many other things) as a result of taking from society without giving anything in return. That including health care, education, and other areas of public service because undocumented workers don't pay for any of those things (including taxes) but yet they can find ways to receive them.
That puts a lot of strain on not only the systems we have in place, but it also puts a strain on the people who DO pay on taxes and other things but can't receive benefits because of the overwhelming state of affairs those systems are in. Not to mention that illegal's are undermining the people who use their hard earned money and precious time to take the measures to become a legal citizen or obtain a visa to work in the U.S. (and other countries).
But it's not just the fault of the illegal's I know. Just throwing illegal's out of the country isn't the solution. We need to find and punish the companies, employers, and service providers who use them as cheap labor as well as give away benefits that don't belong to them.
I could go on but I think for the most part I've got my point across.

Aside from the economy, its also bad for society. Illegal immigrants are easy targets for gang recruiters. Not the parents who come here expecting a better life through hard work, but the kids who are easily manipulated. Need protection from bullies? Join us. Need money? Sell drugs. Don't like someone? Here's a gun. If we don't deport these guys, they'll just flood our prisons. And we're funding those prisons.

ic. yeah, immigration is a tricky subject. though i received free education by being an legal immigrant, i don't see much of a future ahead without legal documentation. though I know from my econ class about immigration that illegal immigrants put a "lot of strain" on the system is blown out of proportion, it's true that the govt cannot hand out citizenship to immigrants.
but then again, i love this country so i wanna stay here. haha, selfish me!

I like the Dream Act. Alot of people came to the US knowing full well it was illegal, in an effort to better their lives. The dream act is the path to documentation that alot of illegals are looking for. But there are a few traps in it. I dont remember the current provisions exactly but a like 15 year old kid can gain some amount of assurance they wont be deported if they identify themselves to USCIS and show the qualifications for the Dream Act. However their parents (lets say they are 45) are totally ineligible and USCIS knows where they are because of the kid. So really the parents could end up in deportation proceedings because their kid said "Hey, im illegal but I want to become legal under the Dream Act". I only wish there wasnt an age thing for the Dream Act but its better than nothing.
As far as the whole "whole theyre using our tax money!" thing. I would feel better if a whole school of illegals got high school diplomas using tax money than the government using it to build more weapons.
In short and most simple form. If I had the power to do so I would make anyone who has been here for (x period of time) "safe" and provide them a path to a green card or citizenship. Then again I would make a terrible politician.

I dont care about the nice immigrants. The ones who come here (not US) and obey our laws and at least try to act like they are actually interested in other things than easy money. Immigrants who study our language, try to get work (I know it isnt easy if you dont talk that countrys language).
But believe me here there are many immigrants who just come here for easy money. Here its really REALLY easy for immigrants to get money. If one person gets here, he can get his whole family here too and they get more money than natives who dont have money (that being about 300 euros per month + the rent). And ofcourse, they get more money, because they need it to fit in. But what some people do is come here, get a free house and nice amount of cash (because they dont have nor can they have bank accounts here) that they are supposed to buy food, clothes and other necessarities with. Then they just buy enough food to survive and once they have enough money, they move back home that same amount of money has way bigger value there than here. Its like they are bloody rich when they get back. And nope, they dont get punished in any way. No matter how they lie to get more money, they dont get punished.
So yeah, immigrants (even legal ones), I dont have anything against them if they try to behave and dont just come here, lie to us and take our money. [size=10]a funny thing crossed my mind, all of the politicians here do that too, lie and take all the possible money to themselves, still they dont get punished...[/h]
But I must say that the best pizzas you can get around here are made by immigrants who dont pay taxes. But I dont care, they are fucking good at making pizza + its cheap and I'm fucking poor.
So I'm not against immigrants because "this is our country" or anything like that. I dont really care if 99% of the people here were immigrants, as long as they behave. Because the truth is that I like the behaving immigrants so much more than our native people D:
my post doesnt make sense, dont read it. I'm tired, sorry :

My lack of knowledge about everything makes me wonder whether I should even be posting here. However, if there is a choice people are going to do it anyways. So even if we come up with a way to cope with illegal immigrants or find a way to put them into the government system there will still be thousands more flooding in. In a world of imperfection there will always be people coming to fill the error holes of a computational system. (if that makes no sense don't worry I was never any good with putting feeling into words.)

To put it simply and bluntly if you are illegally here. You do not belong here. Those who sneak in across the border, overstay visa's, etc should be deported.
Their existence here is a slap in the face of the generations of people who have migrated legally to the states and those around the world who wait patiently for a green light to immigrate. Illegals, have essentially cut in line and we all learned in elementary school that those who cut in line should be sent to the back of said line. I believe the constitution should be amended so that if a child is born with at least one parent being a legal U.S citizen then the child is considered an American citizen. Then if the non-American parent marries the American Citizen that parent can apply for citizenship with their family. This would be an easy/"humane" way to solve the "Anchor baby" problem.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not the American equivalent of the BNP. I am for immigration, I want reforms to the system that will open the door so more legal immigrants can move here, bring their expertise or improve this country by receiving an education. Though, I will not overlook those who have not followed our laws and who take from our system without giving anything in return. These people do not deserve to be here and should be deported but, since that is impractical. We should severely and I emphasize severely punish the companies and farmers who use illegal immigrants to supply their labor force. It takes advantage of the immigrants who have come to this country as a way to escape their former countries or to simply seek a better life only to end up as slave labor to these people.
People who truly care for the "illegals" would seek reforms that would reduce the demand for their labor and open the door for these people to migrate legally. Otherwise you are condemning these people to be slave labor. Farmers and manufacturing companies certainly won't allow elected officials to just grant amnesty to the illegals.
One thing I wish to note: if we reform the immigration policy so people can and have to legally migrate here then we can end the social security fraud. Go to your local flea market. One of them near here in Georgia (near Ziggy and Myself) sells fake Social Security cards/I.D's. The people who buy these I.D's have no desire to pay into the Social Security system but, simply wish to reap the benefits of other people's labor.
tl;dr. Reform the immigration policy, punish those who do not obey our laws.

The system doesn't work. Instead of punishing the illegals, we should make them pay taxes so they can put back into society what they are taking.

Income tax is useless as they aren't even in the system or have fraudulent social security cards. The majority of them are below the radar and the Government doesn't even know they are there.
The only way to collect taxes from illegals is a consumption tax placed at the point of sale but, that particular idea is stalled in congress as politicians won't be able to use the tax system as a political weapon to garner votes.
really, the only good option is to threaten employers with heavy fines and long jail times for hiring illegals and. Then once the demand for their employment is gone via penalties and the mandatory use of e-verify style programs they will simply return home and apply for legal status.
The other outcome would be a sudden surge in anchor baby births thus forcing us to "accept them". Though that would put them into the system so we can tax them.

The way the US economy is going, i doubt it will be an issue much longer.
i'm considering alternatives myself. canada looks like a possibility. pro = english so i don't need to learn a whole new language, con = cold as fuck.

I personally feel illehal immigrants get blamed for a lot of shit that is not there fault. For example, the "They're stealing our jobs" line that people use as a reason to blame them for people not getting jobs today. The only jobs they get are the ones no American citizen would do, and they get paid almost nothing.

The thing is, the only reason there is a huge debate about "illegal" immigrants is because the immigration system is flawed beyond repair. People have to wait months or even years to become a citizen of the USA, and it can be just as hard to get a work visa or student visa. Hence the reason people are finding was to "sneak" into our country. They can't afford to sit in some government office to fill out some paperwork, can't afford the time to learn the rules of the country they are going to, and can't afford the time it takes to get here while their families are suffering. I would call that impatience, but if you look back to what Elis Island was way back in the 1800s, it was as simple as writing your name in a ledger book, and taking a class on language and laws to get in (I know, because my family immigrated to the USA in the middle of the 1850s to Wisconsin, and they were from Germany). And now you look at how complicated it is to get into the country, and you wonder where all that simplicity went. This country was built on immigrants. So, the only way to get rid of the problem of illegal immigration is to redo the entire system from scratch to make it simple again, but also beneficial to become a US citizen.
And P.S., most of the Mexican illegal immigrants come from a strip of land about 50 miles wide just on our border with Mexico, and most Mexicans like living in Mexico and look down upon how their people are coming into our country illegally.

aye. i'm quite tired of waiting. I'm about to apply for green card for the 2nd time, without much hope.
As much as I've been angry and bitter about the broken immigration system, i grew to accept it. The U.S. is a good country to live in, especially San Diego, CA. But I want to have some freedom; get a driver's license, financial aid, leave the country without 10 year ban, etc.
