[Locked] What does it take to lead a happy life?

the essence of leading a happy life depends on You not the people around you!
you effect the people around you, so if you are in a bad mood or always pessimistic the people close to you will bring into their core the depressing feelings that you are radiating
act as if what you do makes a difference, it does!
What we all need to do is focus on:
Gratitude
passion
spirituality
as long as youcan obtain and sustain these three, your positivity will vibrate through the air affecting everyone around you, creating a healthier atmosphere around you. you will notice that you are happier, people will like being around you more, and Youwill be more successful!
try repeating this every day ( it would help but all you really need to do is believe it):
I am a unique human being who is capable of thinking, speaking, and acting with intelligence and dignity
Each and every day i create experiences that make me healthier in body, mind, and spirit.
I am the ruler of my mind,Only i control my destiny .
If you believe that you will find yourself with more confidence
or do the same thing with this:
I pledge allegiance to myself, and to my purpose for being alive.
I pledge allegiance to my self respect and my dignity
and i pledge that i will always show the world the perfect person that i am inside knowing... happiness and excellence and love!
(please do not claim these speeches as your own)
make sure to write some things that you think will make others happy, it could range from suggestions to stories of your best experiences, because happy stories put the reader into the state of mind that you were in at the time of that happiness.
im looking forward to your comments.

Are you saying if I constantly act suicidal others around me will think that way as well? Sounds retarded. First of all, we do not radiate feelings, maybe heat and certain smells, but not feelings. People probably just understand how I feel, so they change their actions towards me based on the "feel" that I give them. They won't start acting like me though.

Spirituality? It would be pretty entertaining if you started talking about how acupuncture fucks around with "chi." Also, why do we need gratitude? Why should we focus on gratitude throughout our life?

Spoiler:
Sounds like a way of deluding yourself. I can also believe I'm awesome and still have good confidence in myself. Doesn't make me awesome. And what's with that pledge shit. First you assume there's a "purpose" for your life, and then you delude yourself into believing you're a perfect person, which is impossible, because we are far from perfect.

Dude stop being a dick. can't you see this guys trying to help people be happy. your life is just so fucked up that you need to go onto the internet and terrorize happy people. he is giving great advice and you go and attempt to shoot it down? man that's messed up. why don't you take a chill pill and stop being a dick.
If you look at the "Serious discussion Rules and Guideline" you will find the passage that says
Keep Your Cool
No one wants to see a thread based on a well-thought topic and filled with educated responses get locked because of a flamer/spammer. In your debate, attack the idea, not the person!
you obviously have nothing to contribute. so next time you decide to speak, just for the sake of getting more posts, try not to be a dick about it.
this, in my opinion, was a great topic; it's a good way to share past experiences and spread the joy. but after you came along this will probably be closed. sorry MegaBone! some people just don't know how to spread the love!

Actually it's pretty easy. Fake it till you make it. Pretend to be happy and with time you will actually start to feel happy. An old actors saying concurs with that insofar as "you can't make 3 angry gestures without actually starting to feel angry" (paraphrased).

Didn't know the OP had to send a buddy of his to try and defend him. I thought about going through your response point by point, but I don't think an idiot can comprehend my logic. Take your stupidity somewhere where you won't look like a dumbfuck to the public.

Your sense of humor will never cease to amaze me, truly.
Anyway, I don't really think I could get into an indepth discussion on this. I mean, this applies different to each individual. For me just enjoying what I want to do and feeling like I have a purpose in life is more than enough for me. Right now I'm missing the "purpose" because I don't go to school and I don't have a job, so I'm living a pretty meaningless life right now, but doing things that I enjoy keeps me hanging on, and avoids that nasty clinical depression.
Edit: Wow, this is what I get for only reading the first two posts. I feel out of place actually participating in a discussion on this. :P

All I did was criticize and question you, and seeing as you're giving me such a simple victory, then good riddance to this thread if it gets closed.

Your sense of humor will never cease to amaze me, truly.I possess no such thing. It was merely a friendly hint to use color wisely, i.e. sparingly. One FreeNadja is enough.
As an aside, I fail to see see how rbz was being a dick. Criticizing esoteric truisms and self-contradictory statements ought to be allowed. Otherwise this section should be rechristened Sterile Monologues, because a discussion essentially thrives on antagonism. If everyone agrees, there will be no discussion.

gibbous doesn't have a sense of humor - what he has is a very sarcastic and acerbic wit which occasionally passes off as humor.
For me to lead a happy life, it's the ability to be able to do what I want and get what I want. I'm a hedonistic and materialistic person, sometimes more hedonistic than anything. It helps focus my passions and wants, tempered by logic and the reality we live in.
