Why do experience consciousness

What cause us to be conscious? Is it possible to create robots till the point they experience consciousness? Will it be a crime then to abuse robots O.o
I feel that this is a question on cognitive psychology and the form of the human brain, consciousness happens when every sensation from single organ in the body becomes organized and becomes process. However, I am unsure why we can perceive things as bad or good, like atonality and tonality in music, is it hereditary or made just that way. So from my viewpoint if programmed in depth enough and the hardware of robots becomes advanced robots should also experience consciousness.

It's all in our brains. And i'm pretty sure we're never going to be able to simulate how a human brain works. It's just way too complicated.

Actually, the weakest area of study in Cognitive Psychology is with our consciousness, simply because it is so hard to test and conduct research upon. I don't think anyone is certain, (or ever will be), as to why people experience things the way that they do.

Sometimes i think that our brain is making us think we look human while we all share the same brain with the same unconciousness when really this is what the world looks like

I think we will be able to "create" councious robots.
I mean, just look how far we got in these 500 years, I bet we will make more than that in the next 500 years.
But I think that the highiest priority for us is to "gain immortality" with technology. Just think about it : if a genious is born, then the progress will be unlimited.
So I think we, humans, need to make a few good steps forward to make that kind of robots, but this is only matter of time :3

Well, we already had the "cognitive revolution" back around WW II with the invention of artificial intelligence, so I definitely think that another revolution is possible.
And to think that this topic is helping me study for my exam tomorrow. :)

Why not? We can always keep advancing technology, but it's more a question of will we let robots reach it. Will our fear of technology over taking us allow them to grow that much? I believe that if technology is allowed to grow that much we will not allow it to grow enough to become conscious. Out of fear, but more of pride that we are the dominate race on earth, and will not allow anything else to reach our level.

I believe consciousness is nothing more than a natural by-product of a system with complexity about certain level....or to say, consciousness is nothing more than the "feel" of accessing memory. So I see no reason for us not being able to emulate it in non-biological circuitry...it's just as gin said, will we let such things have consciousness or not is the main issue. I believe we will one day master the art of transferring consciousness anyway, so that we'll no longer be restricted by our biological limits.

So far what I've studied in psychology, the consciousness is completely undefined with the introduction of the behaviorism school of psychology and cognitive school of psychology.
The reason why we experience consciousness is still pretty much unknown, it may be just a stimuli-response mechanism as how the behaviorists portray it, or it could be some part of the brain that gives us that ability.
Or you can be a dipshit and believe that God gave consciousness to you, lol.

I believe that once an artificially created construct of any kind becomes self-aware, it is a sign that a conscious does form, because it gains an ability to actively ask questions for the pursuit of knowledge. After all, why do you think we advanced as far as we did? Curiosity is probably the largest definition of an existing consciousness.
In short, though, yes I do believe we will one day create a self-aware robot, and if we don't take care to regard it as sentient, it'll come back to bite us in the ass.
