Why do people relegate the meaning of life to nothingness?
0
I have run across so many people that have taken the meaning of life to be meaningless. This had me thinking to such a degree that I decided to ask your opinions Forum. I take life as a gift of such magnitude that i cherish and would protect life at almost no cost. What about you guys, and how do you guys take life's meaning in your existence?

In other words, you're a pacifist.
The reason why people do that is because there's no logical explanation to our being here, none with evidence anyway. Some have taken the "I don't know, so I don't care" route and accepted we're here and that's all there is to it.

I learned Martial Arts And have been through plenty of Gang wars just to get to my Aunt/Uncle's house, i thought a pacifist is one who doesn't believe in fighting(I believe in fighting battle's that are necessary). Anyways, that is an interesting philosophy(I will have to read up on that some), but how do they come to this decision.

You said you believe in protecting all life, so I assumed pacifist.
In my case, a lack of evidence and, thinking about it, if we can't turn back time then there's no real way of telling why we're here at all. If I had to get my 5pence in, I would say that we're here by accident, due to a long chain of events which tipped in our favour and we gained intelligence as we evolved. Although that's a different topic entirely so I won't say any more than that.
Those who question themselves as to why we're here are just going on a wild goose chase in my opinion. All they can do is theorise and provide some logical explanations for their theories, but can never actually prove anything.

Interesting theory, but what about the people in Atomic cellular growth, and Quantum Physics, who say we genetically coded to cherish life instead of MEH.....
This thread has sparked even more interesting discovers for me to learn from( i must thank you sometime Gravity Cat).

I'll admit I don't know about all that malarky.
This is just what I've concluded on my own after hearing theories from watching the odd Science show here and there.

I understand, usually I prefer to read on lighter, but for a street dancer I sure can get into serious discussions, hehe! Though I must thank you for this interesting conversation. Hopefully others contribute to this topic.

Btw, I don't believe in a preset meaning of life. Well, nothing I see supports such a thing so yeah.
But still, I believe there is a meaning of life. It's subjective, I definitely can't put into words exactly what it is, except that it is some kind of urge and it makes me struggle. It might be better if I don't make the effort at all, desperation is ugly and I'm better off just being content with what I already have but nopes, I won't. I can't. There is a life that I yearn to live. That is the meaning of life to me.
"I cannot choose to ignore this feeling, of life slowly bleeding out of me. I cannot ignore the fact that life only makes sense to me when I see a smile, or feel another hand in mine."

You're suppose to impose your own meaning onto life. I would start a whole lecture on existentialism philosophy, but I'm tired today.

I think people subjugate the meaning of life to nothingness because they want to put their own meaning to it?
Ok, makes no sense but hear me out for a bit.
What if in some parallel universe, people's lives already had meaning from the moment they were born. They had purpose, they had destiny, they had value, they had all those factors we use, whatever they may be to add "meaning" to our lives. Well for me, that sort of situation is terrible because then its like our entire life had already been played for us, but I think you guys know what im talking about already.
I think people equate their life as having no meaning so that they themselves can add meaning to it later. THIS of course is totally different from people who choose to equate their lives to nothing and simply choose not to do anything about it.
But then for me, the call in life is not to find meaning. I mean, by all means, step out the door and look for it, but I think the real challenge is to be open to letting that meaning find you, and accepting it whatever it may be :D
just my thoughts on the matter

Interesting theories, fakku members. I really would like to hear sprites full theory, but i think the human mind is already genetically coded to have multiple decisions for our personalities and life to make depending on what route we take.

I used to think life had some special meaning, but then I realized nothing happens at all when you die. You could be famous and you might as well have ushered in world peace and even then it's inconceivable that your death would affect the universe or interrupt the space time continuum. However, I'm not pessimistic nor am I emo enough to say that life has absolutely no meaning. In my eyes, the only reasons worth living for are to not die and to have fun. Unfortunately, it isn't always that simple and shit happens.

There is no preset meaning. We, as humans, have made our own. Whether you take up someone else's meaning of life or construct your own is up to you.

I'm not trying to say it's THE meaning of life. I'm just saying it's my meaning of life. Of course, naturally it has my complete and undivided support and it is what I fully believe in. I would like to take the time to think on this a little more, but I cannot. The flashing add at the bottom insists that there's one weird tip to grow my cock by 4 inches, and it's pissing me the hell off.

I personally don't believe that life has much of a meaning from a metaphysical standpoint.
Being animals, our ultimate goal written into our DNA is to spread our genes.
Beyond that, I don't think there's any more to a meaning of life other than to enjoy the time that you're given.

There is not really such a thing as a meaning of life. At least not generally. That's a good thing though, since it also means freedom (granted, that pretty much depends on what the hypothetical objective meaning of life would actually be). If you need a special meaning in your life, you have to give it your own personal one.
But I think not even that is necessary. I, for instance, never gave my life a certain meaning. One could say I live because I live. That's good enough for me.

That's subjective, buddy. There is no meaning to life but what we make up.

My life has a meaning now.
People ofthen do that because they cant handle the truth of the life. Or theyr questions are left without answer. Why im here? Whats my mission? Why im born to this world?
For me the answer lies in the end of the road. In the moment i die, i probably find the answer to my questions.

Unless he is coming from a Metaphorical point of view, but that would then cancel out his meaning into something completely diffrent.
