Don't let that stop you all, that makes me sad
I mean, I would have much preferred the anime style pictures, but it doesn't affect the game that much. I'm have a difficult time putting the game down, I'm having a lot of fun. a few CGs and some cheesy acting shouldn't stop anyone from trying it.

I am BEYOND pissed right now. Minor spoiler alert, so minor in fact I'm not using spoiler tags.
Everything was going SWELL, like 9 hours in if memory serves, on the Cardianon mothership thing. I'm having a grand old time, and BAM, the game freezes... I think well fuck, that sucks. There goes my awesomely full battleboard... I call it quits for the night...
I come home and play it today... it's frozen 4 times in like 80 minutes. Losing the battleboard is one thing, but now I can't even make it to the next fucking save point. -_-
Anyone else have this problem?
EDIT: Installed it to the hard drive and it seems to work so far, from what I've seen online though some people have had the opposite problem, where it only works off the disc and not the drive.

Another point that I didn't really think of before is that now that graphics are getting much more detailed, it seems really odd to have a drawing of the character pop up when they speak or when you see them on the menu. It made sense on the SNES-era and PS1-era RPGs because the character models/sprites were so basic. Now that they're very detailed and "lifelike", it makes absolutely no sense for them to be represented by a drawing. The CG artwork will at least actually look like their models look (though are still totally pointless in the dialogue boxes since you can see their faces anyway).

I mean the game screams anime at every turn. Have you read Lymle's Dictionary entry? Introduced Bacchus to Welch? Hell, introduced Welch to ANYONE?
Just as an aesthetic choice, I think it would have worked better, and probably is in Japan. Especially since only the major cutscenes seem to have a lot of facial expression on the actual model.
