Cities: Skylines

Hi I'm here making a rare thread to showcase an absolute gem of an addition to the city-building genre -- Cities: Skylines. (Not to be confused with Cities XL!)
If you don't like city-building games or managing things, you should probably stop reading here.

Publisher: Paradox Interactive
Developer: Colossal Order (Cities in Motion 1, 2)

You know why this game is great? It takes everything good about Simcity2013, and either a.) fixes or b.) gets rid of everything bad. But specifically:
  • No online requirement (no more SIMCITY SERVERS ARE DOWN)

  • Cities are expandable (yep, you can make a huuuuge city)

  • VERY flexible zone buildings (ever get annoyed in sc2013 where you had blank spots too small for a building? well, be annoyed no more!)

  • A GRID (why you would have a city-building game without a grid is beyond me)

  • Works out-of-box (bugs? what's that?)

  • Moddable!

Also, it has a map editor. And an asset editor. (make your own buildings!)
If you like city-building games, this is a definite pick-up. I highly recommend it.

I've been wanting to play a sim city ever since my 300k died, and I heard the last one kinda stunk.

And Published by Paradox, I trust them.

Will try this, and it's only $32

I remember enjoying my time with SimCity (the OLD one) and a quite old game called "Constructor" ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Constructor_(video_game) ).

What I can see so far of this game is qutie pleasing and I might give it a try.

Thanks for posting it Tegumi.

Never heard of GreenManGaming, but for what I can see is kind of an external Steam?

I am still uncertain to buy the game or not. Not because of its quality, which is very pleasant (I have seen quite a few Let's Play Cities:Skyline), but I have a very small amount of free time, which means if I buy it, I might need to dump all my free time on it.

Any thoughts from someone who is playing on how much time is taking them palying the game and so?
