Any other fellow Fakkuists playing / played this fine RTS from THQ?
Short runthrough of the game - RTS as formerly mentioned, based in WW2 (yes, again) with some level of micromanagement on keeping you'r infantry in cover while trying to get a squad to flank the other guy's squad from their cover with grenades, while you'r armor is attempting to outgun / outmaneuver the hostile armor.
Base building is pretty minimal in the game, dropped to roughly 4 production buildings, LMG positions, Medic tents and outskirt barracks's from civilian buildings.
The game is pretty fast paced RTS, though occasional games might end up running long when both sides fortify as long as possible for them to bring out the biggest guns (ie King Tiger / Tiger's / Jagdpanther for Germans and Churchills / Pershings for Allies).
Probably the most obvious differences compared to other games is the command tree and usage of cover system for infantry, which allows nice level of tactical based decisions when advancing or falling back to alternate defense positions.
Though some people get the game for Skirmish / Single-Player only, again the best side of the game can be found on multiplayer, where the player occasionally tends to behave better then the AI.
(Not the best type of writer to give a explanation of a game to others).
But in my opinion anyone that's slight bit interested in RTS genre, should seriously check this game out. The game has only become better with the amount of mods for the game (right now, the most popular mods tend to be Europe in Ruins, Blitzkrieg and Eastern Front. And good next TC release might be Warfare 1918 and Company of Heroes: Modern Warfare)

V2 barrage is pretty frustrating.. Only thing more frustrating is 4 brit players, 2 as Royal engineers and 2 as Royal artillery. Oh the load of 25 pdr rounds dropping into the base.
Few of them to counter battery duty and nebel/walking Stuka threat eliminated mostly.
And if they grow tired of the artillery, they can always fart out few Fireflies with few sappers with the repair upgrade and a command tank.
Tried the "Blitzkrieg" modification, ExESGO? Enhances the game play, increases the command tree options and alters some of the weapon systems, armor tweaks and so on and has alternate download choice for german voice pack for the dear panzer elite and Wehrmacht boys.

I did and I love it.
Have you tried the Eastern Front mod? The Russians got one big ass tank.

I have tried just about every CoH mod there is, Eastern front is one nice mod, although at some point think "It's not America that has the biggest things.. It must be Russians because these tanks seem to be way bigger then a King Tiger". Especially the IS-2 and ISU-152.
I heard that in the later update for the mod, they're making conscripts either free of pop cap or free to train, although capped to maximum of 5 squads. Either would make them rather great nuisance, when fighting against the AI or another player, since neither won't leave them unused.
Russian AI is pretty tough to beat imo.. especially the hard and expert ones, due to the 3.5 resource multiplier. They're farting out tanks and infantry, just like in the war.

Free to train, but you can't make the wall of running flesh happen.

Well,
Fileplanet is having a promotion for the Company of Heroes Online Closed beta.
That CoH version is deemed to be free to play and still hold the all ideas from original CoH versions, with little tweak in form of hero units (more like specialized unit types, no OP level hero vs standard units ala WC3), Commander leveling up (improvisation points gained 1 per level to improve the commander abilities that at most you can have 5 in the level up progress but in about lvl 20 you have 3-4 irc)
For those that likes original CoH are most likely going to like this one and those that never had a copy of the CoH and want to give it a shot, can try it on this one.
British and Panzer Elite aren't implemented yet due to balance issues but they're going go show up at some point, since the download was 20 gigs big.. So for sure the unit details, meshes, maps, etc are in there and await activation.

New discovery in Blitzkrieg... Use British, 2-3 infantry sections with brens + 3 lieutenants behind them = Total ownage. These guys seriously kick some ass, I had 2 of these units in light cover + lieutenants in nearby building and they massacred about 4 to 7 grenadier/volksgrenadier squads...
Also the mod has updated to 2.52, addressing some bugs from earlier version and improving the performance.. Still looking for some other human players for the mod.
