Oh man. Disgaea 3!!
My first introduction to Disgaea was on the PSP, which is an improved version of the first game. Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness had solid gameplay, had hilarious characters and dialogue, and had tons of hidden and unlockable content. I've played through the story 3 times and have only scratched the surface. For example...Spoiler:
I've been searching everywhere for Disgaea 2 locally but had no luck. Maybe I should buy it online. Any suggestions on where to get it?
And then Disgaea 3 is released.. This is torture for me, since I don't have nor plan to get any of the current-gen consoles. This Japanese trailer is too tempting! (and has THE BEST voiceover I have ever heard)(no seriously, he could make paint drying sound epic) I just love the world of Disgaea to bits. They could've released it on older consoles too right? The graphics are probably using a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of the PS3's processing power.. Gahhh it had better be ported to other platforms.

My tv is a 50 inch plasma, Disgaea doesn't look too great on it. The menus are HD but the characters are rough sprites and look worse on a large scale.

Nippon Ichi declaring disgaea 3 was on the ps3 was enough to get me to buy the ps3. But I am sorely disappointed.
I beat the game and all additional levels in 25 hours, including grinding and leveling up armor in the item world. It was much to easy compared to the other disgaea games. There was no way to raise your resist to a decent level in this game, which didn't matter, since you encounter very few spell casters, and fewer still who don't die in the first 2 rounds.
the game had about 10 chapters, at 5 levels a chapter.
The camera just sucked. I had trouble with depth perception constantly, which is a big deal on stacking characters up and throwing them. double and triple checking my throw pattern isn't fun in anyway.
everything is customizable, which is a nice feature, but the amount of grinding it took to get say, the average character to use a gun, was absurd, and is harder then just beating the game.
random levels are nice, but these are random in an aggravating way. It also isn't an excuse for lack of content.
Winning votes is now extremely hard, as you can;t get above a slight interest in anything with out them having the item prefence, and bribing the wrong class at the wrong time, which you may have to do to win the vote, makes other voters hate you.
Luckily, you can smear a level 2000 monster with 4 level 400 characters, with a few throw aways, and just rape them every vote.
Nothing to new in this, either. If you have played there non-disgaea games, almost all the new classes and monsters can be found in there. Actually, I found very little reason there weren't more races and monsters. I mean, they made graphics for soul nomad, which was entirely new. everything about it. They could of literally just moved the graphics over and of had twice the amount of content.
Actually, soul nomad was a better game in every aspect.
I'm not saying I didn't enjoy playing disgaea three, and I didn't have fun, but it was so short. Disgaea 2 was longer, with more features, and created a black world where you basically replayed the world. Class world doesn't cut it in my book. It was more like an expansion to disgaea 1 then it was even its own game.

No, it took 25 hours, unless your referencing something else. After 80 hours in persona 3 RES I was sorely disappointed. The game was to easy, and after playing the other 2 I knew the method to grind well enough, as well as my character weaknesses. admittingly, I only level 4 characters, and only one of them was a main character. technically 5, if you include my main's sword (A slime); but he was worse then my asura buster, I more did the magichange for fun.

While the main story being easy is quite believable, I have a hard time believing that you beat everything in 25 hours considering it took Patrick Gann 25 hours for the story alone. Worse come to worse, I'll just ratchet up the enemy levels to makes the game more difficult if/when I get it ... I can still do that, right?
