Doom 3 BFG edition?

Why do people despise this so much?
It's not like someone just stole D3
It's actually a decent remake and it actually feels harder then when I first played the original.
I don't quite remember, but what the flashlight in the original infinite?
because in this it has a batteray (auto recharging) that runs out really quickly, I would have preferred an infinite equip flashlight, so it didn't even make the game less scary like I got told
Any one else played it?
Opinions?

No, that's not it.
In the original Doom 3, the flashlight was a separate weapon. So you had to choose between shooting your gun, or holding your flashlight. It added in a bit more tense atmosphere in the game. My friend summed it up best:
"By letting you hold your flashlight and a gun, it turned a pretty scary game into a mediocre corridor shooter"

But the flash-light runs out of charge so quickly..
Also in the original all you had t do was hit F (default) and you would swap between flashlight and last used gun. I am actually in the darkness a lot more often in the BFG remake then I was in the original.
Was there anything else wrong with it? or is it just purists being purists?

There was the fact that your flashlight was your immediate melee weapon.
IIRC my brother played through hardest difficulty mostly using the flashlight to conserve ammo for bosses and harder to kill monsters.

I am playing through veteran, which is the hardest unlocked from the start and what I wouldn't give for a good melee bash when those fucking imps dive at me.
I dunno, to me it feels like a trip down D3 memory lane with some fresh aspects and it feels nice
Maybe it's because people were expecting a simple HD remake?
