I have like 2 codes. And I have never played DOTA 2. I have it installed though.
Codes aren't rare or hard to find.

Don't you know Dota 2 invites are like a hydra?

So, was dota 2 meant to be a paid for game? Because at this rate, nobody has or will have to pay

I've got around 15, even after I put 14 or so of them on the Steam Marketplace. My brother recently got 30.

Not at all. It's a closed beta until all 110 heros from DotA 1 are important and rebalanced, because as is, the game is still in beta and has too many bugs to be released as an official game yet.
