Eternal Sonata

Got this game the other week and was just wondering if anyone else has got it and what they think about it. I think it's a really good game.
The story takes place 3 hours before Frederic Chopin death, a Polish pianist known as "poet of the piano", in a dream world. Chopin first believe that this world is a dream, but then begins to doubt himself as he gets further on in the game. There is also another story running along that about the people of Chopins dream and their quest to reduce the tax of the Count, but as with most stories it is just the tip of the ice burg.
There are also quite a few familiar Japanese voice actors in it, including Ayo Hirano (Haruhi) and Katsuyuki Konishi (Kamina)
Edit:
I've actualy switched to the Japanese voice setting as the English voice acting isn't that great.

OMG. I'm an avid lover of Chopin's music. In fact, most of my piano repertoire consists of Chopin's works (yes, I play the piano). I have some recordings of my own playing if anyone's interested.
This game looks sick, and with Chopin's music, it's definitely win material. But godammit, why did this game have to be Xbox360 exclusive? *goes off to cry in the corner*

Well, I don't have a nextgen console, but hearing about a game with THE CHOPIN in it I downloaded the soundtracks and I must say that Pyroxene of The Heart is quite nice to hear. The Stanislav Bunin(?)'s rendition of Fantasie Impromptu is not very satisying IMHO, though :(

well the fact that the game was kinda broken in itself (infinite money from takign pictures/easyness) it was fun stuff. i just hope they add a harder mode for the game in the ps3 release liek they did for KH2:final mix

The gameplay is the what you'd expect in a RPG, running around large maps where you can see enemies (which is nice as there are no random encounters) What is different is the battle system. It's turn based, with a twist. On the side of the screen is the action bar, which is basically a certain amount of time (5 seconds) In this time, you can do whatever you want. You can go anywhere on the battle field, use powerups. Anything. As your party level increase though, this time gets shorter, meaning that as you progress through the game you have to use different stratergies in the enemies as you don't have enough time now. It's good as it keeps the battle system fresh.
The game is based alot on music. The levels, weapons and even characters are based on musical instruments. The places are named after music related things aswell (E.g. Double Reed Tower)
There are parts of the game that give you insight into the life of Chopin, with his music playing in the background.

Its a great game with its nice graphics and gameplay, but its too LINEAR! Even after you do it a second time just for the 'things' you can now do, it cant shake that linear feeling. It still is my fav. 360 rpg so far. Ayo Hirano is up their?!? I didnt know that!
*replay the whole game 10 times non-stop with japanese voicing*

I'm waiting for the PS3 version, but I dig games with uber-cute girls in those frilly little outfits. So cute!

I beat this game a few weeks ago, I still need to do a 2nd playthrough for the rest of the achievements though.
My opinion is that it is an amazing game. The battle system is great, you can really get into it. The music is outstanding thanks to Motoi Sakuraba. The storyline isn't the best, but it's enjoyable. The only downside, like someone else mentioned, is that the game is VERY linear. There's almost no opportunity for wandering off and exploring on your own.

Well... you can beat the game with about lvl 50 characters, but before the last boss you get a crest and unlock a super hard dungeon. At the moment my team (Viola, Aragretto & Jazz) are about lvl 80-90

Thanks Mattarat, i just beat it about 1 day ago and my characters were on lvl 60-63... weird thing is that for some reason i haven't unlocked all the achievements, do i have to play through a couple of times to get all the achievements?
oh and also when you start again does your all my equipment stay with me or do i have to get it all again?
oh i also forgot to say damn how did you get to such a high lvl you would have had to have played more than 100 hrs to get to lvl 80-90.... by the way my main three characters (Allegretto, Polka and March are all on lvl 63)
Thanks again
P.S definitely playing through again because its by fair one of my favourite RPG's besides final fantasy series and tales of series as well as blue dragon.

As you know, you can't really revisit places, but if you save the game at the very end, you keep all of your score pieces and your party level. The score pieces that you have collected may be for villages that are in the very begining.

i think i'll check that dungeon out see how tough they are.... should be an actual challenge considering i found all the battles throughout the game to be rather too easy.... thanks for the help again....oh hey do you think the PS3 version of Eternal Sonata will actually have that much more story details compared to the 360 version?
i read on ign.com that the PS3 version will have more depth in the story and you have more costumes as well as you can play as serenade and prince of baroke..... but nothing on the PS3 seems to be better graphics that was remade on the PS3 for example Enchanted Arms was a shit load worse graphics compared to the 360 version for some reason..... which makes me think that the PS3 isn't as powerful as it is said to be.... i have a question for you since you have a 360..... Are you going to get Lost Odyssey?
gotta go buddy thanks for your help you've really helped me out :D
P.S I am actually excited to be able finally get the party gauge lvl 6 since i was wondering why i didn't have it
and now i know where it is so i really appreciate your help maybe i could help you out with some games if needed and thats if you aren't a mega pro at games already..... anyways talk soon buddy catcha later

Always happy to help.
If you get stuck anywhere in the "Mysterious Unison" (Name of the high level dungeon) do let me know (post here, pm or email me) and I'll see if I can help out.
P.S. Viola, Aragretto & Jazz just reached the maximum level, 99.

Ok
Viola
HP: 81,340
Total Exp: 44,698,638
Atk: 662
Mag: 477
Def: 480
Spd: 449
The most powerful attack has to be "Full Barrage"
A rain of arrows comes from the sky, has done 3 times 99,999 damage in 1 shot. Her "Heal Arrow" is also extremely handy.
Allegretto
HP: 83,657
Total Exp: 44,537,313
Atk: 754
Mag: 484
Def: 562
Spd: 438
An all round good character. Best attacks are probably "Starlight Blast" and "Bloddy Plume"
Jazz
HP: 96,747
Total Exp: 43,915,513
Atk: 718
Mag: 390
Def: 558
Spd: 359
Jazz has a very high HP with attack, but is the slowest character. Thankfully I had some speed shoes, and now he is the fastes moving character. "Magma Pillar" is a very strong attack.
