What type of "feel good"? Do you mean pure love stories?

Majikoi, or maybe Edelweiss.

This list isn't that good.

I have a few problems with the list.

First off the VNs on the list need to easy to get working or easy to get into. Also I have a sense of redundancy on this the list, while some really deserving titles aren't even mentioned.

Games that shouldn't be on the list

Muv Luv

reasoning: Muv luv is a very over rated game. Don't get me wrong it's very good but has too many flaws to be a first VN someone reads

first off MUV LUV is actully 3 parts. The first one Extra/Unlimited is just a good eroge but it's a buggy piece of shit. I actully liked the High School anitics, most notibly I liked Sumika's route the most. However a lot of people don't like Extra/Unlimited, the whole additude is just "Get through this one so you can get to Alternative". It's a good game and the last parts of Alternative is amazing despite me not liking all the characters, but since there is so much crap at the beginning I wouldn't recommend it as a first VN

The other problem is as I mentioned above. the game is just hard to get working. More people have issues getting MUV LUV to work. That is a REALLY bad quality since someone coming in not sure if they would like it may just get frustrated and give up. MUV LUV should be on the list as an honorable mention for those reasons

Second game that is on the list is

Tsukihime

Reasoning: Once again Tsukihime is an amazing game, but it's really starting to show it's age. First off the didn't immediately draw me in. Fate did a better job by introducing archer and then leading up to a fight in the prologue. Tsukihime sort start slow, which would be ok if it weren't for it's second flaw.

The music and art in Tsukihime is old and outdated. Tsukihime at the time didn't have good production values, now Type-Moon is a big company and has the assets to make a really awesome game. This is why it's being remade because we all agree it could be better. When it's finished I'll read it. I want to see it as awesome at it could be. Until then it shouldn't be on the recommended list and be a honorable mention

Third problem is redundancy

There is no reason why Clannad, Little Busters and Rewrite should be on the list. All 3 are good but for the sake of variety there should be only 1 and perhaps a special honorable mention right below.

The same goes for Higurashi and Umeneko good games, but alike in many ways.

Games that should be an honorible mention

Last is some games that aren't on the list at all. I understand that the list is your personal opinion but these games shouldn't be forgotten. At least they are an honorible mention

Katawa Shoujo
- A gateway VN. Many people play this game and then go looking for other VNs. It's easy to get and install and most people relate to the characters right away. Some people toss it aside for being too casual but I think it's perfect for a newcomer and certainly a much better first VN than MUV LUV

Pheonix Wright

- The classic courtroom drama that is fun to play. This isn't on fakku at all. I'm not sure if that people people are in denial and won't acknowledge it as a true VN or if it's just against the rules to link to a nintendo DS emulator. Perhaps both.

Either way the games are ridiculously good and memorible. They should be talked about more for sure

Steins;gate

- A great VN on par with the anime. There was a little fiasco with the release of the game but that is cleared up and should be released really soon (is it out yet?)
Many people think that it surpasses Chaos;Head already. I agree with that statement. It very deserving to be on the list and i'm sad that is isn't.

These VN need to be removed from honorible mentions

Saya no Uta

Great game but really graphic and disturbing. I love Gen Urobuchi and all his work, but it's best to keep a newcomer away from something like this. At the very least there needs to be a buyer beware on this.

Not going to quote because your post is quite lengthy.

As a first point, note that there is a link where I say "Story Synopsis + tags + pics here". This gives the opportunity to those that are interested in knowing more to know what they should expect. If I removed for example Saya no Uta from the list that means that I was judging people new to VNs as not liking in any kind of circumstance some gore. The same applies to other kind of content presented on other VNs. If you are trying to give this kind of audience something to chose you can't do this.

Regarding Muv Luv
- Technical issues are not enough reason to not have it in the main recommendations. If someone is having trouble after following the instructions they can do some research by themselves and ask for help. Technical issues are fated to happen with one game or another and that isn't enough reason to not recommend it (even if the engine in particular may prove somewhat buggy). At least, not for the kind of list posted here.
- About the prequels, it's true that they aren't great and many people don't like them that much. However, note that both Muv Luv and Muv Luv Alternative are different games. It's the player choice to not have many expectations about the prequels and finish them or just skip them over. Also, there is what I mentioned above about the fact that a link to a story synopsis + tags is included. Anyone can check it and draw their own conclusion.

Regarding Tsukihime
- It's a matter of tastes. Tsukihime merely failed to get your attention in beginning but may succeed in getting other players attention. Even if the game is old and it's production value wasn't great, Tsukihime is still a great story overall. And of course you can't expect truly good art and BGM. It's a title released on 2000. But still, I believe that this isn't only my opinion but others as well, they aren't bad considering the time of release.

Regarding Redundancy
- So if a company releases more than one good game you can't include all of them in a recommendations list? This was the first thing I thought when I read what you said. I guess you're meaning the similar tags (nakige and mystery). I thought about that when elaborating the list but then I thought that I wouldn't be fair. KEY is known for making great nakige titles and 07th Expansion is known for the excellent mystery along other stuff. Again, I can't make these judgements for other people and to the titles themselves. If I included a section about similar VNs, I'm pretty sure that Little Busters and Kanon would be next to Clannad on the list but since I don't include that kind of section and the VN itself is good enough I don't see any problem about including it.

Regarding Katawa Shoujo
- Already discussed. In the VN medium, Katawa Shoujo doesn't standout. Quoting Zolnir:

Unfortunately I'll have to disagree. If the actual game was as high quality as the demo KS Act 1 had been then yes definitely, but it wasn't

- If we're making a recommendation list for all the medium then some titles can't receive special treatment.

Regarding Phoenix Wright
- Phoenix Wright series aren't uploaded on Fakku for now. If you didn't already notice, Fakku barely has VN uploaders. Maybe I'll upload it in the near future. But going to what you said, I agree that the Phoenix Wright series are quite entertaining and would definitely be on the special mentions list if they were uploaded on Fakku.

Regarding Steins;gate
- Current english patch is not 100% complete (there's some stuff untranslated if I'm not mistaken) and is in need of some editing. After official release and upload it'll be included on the main recommendations. It'll be released on February 2014. I already pre-ordered the limited edition.

Regarding Saya no Uta
- Already explained on the beginning.

Haro!

Wouldn't you agree, that Majikoi should be added in there?

Well actually I think the only reason it shouldn't be there is that it's not 100% translated. BUT it's too good to miss. D;

And you guessed right.
It's true that Majikoi is a enjoyable title but since its translation isn't complete, I decided to not include it as well as other titles.

On this note, I noticed just now that many pics on the OP won't load. Seems like sadpanda has been down for some time and I didn't even knew about it. And this brings a problem. I don't have backups of those pics -_-
I'll see about what I can do.

Updates in the near future to the list

- Steins; Gate and Air will be added.

Steins; Gate will go to the main recommendations. I'm sure many of us already read it and think that it's an excellent title.
After some consideration, I'm thinking of placing Air on the special mentions. I finished it yesterday and enjoyed it so much that I'd place it on the main recommendations without thinking. However, I doubt that much many people will consider Air to be considered above very good and hence be placed on the main recommendations. Well, if someone wants to share their thoughts please feel free to do it.

Add Grisaia no Kajitsu to the list, am. It's awesome. At the very least, Kazami Yuuji is my current all-time best protagonist.

Although I still didn't read it, I heard pretty good things about Grisaia no Kajitsu and am planning to read it and eventually include it on the list. The only reason why it's not listed is because its part of a trilogy and for now the other games aren't translated.

Sorry for taking a while to answer.

Might be just me, but I think Katawa Shoujo should be at least in the honorable mentions, if not for the great story and wonderful characters, for it being western made and the easiest VN to install and play, and of course free.

Who wants to read a vn that comes from outside of Japan anyway? Let alone something from the west. Part of the reason I love these kinds of things is their "Japanese-ness". I would hate to see things from outside cultures taint true japanese otaku culture.
