FFXIV - Anyone else looking forward to it?

At the E3 conference this year Square Enix their next MMORPG: FFXIV (Final Fantasy 14)
Anyone else looking forward to it?
How psyched are you about it?
What are you doing to stay sane in the meantime...in the absence of any new information and lack of a beta date?
I read different video gaming news websites forum and fan forums daily as well as checking the Square Enix website. I'm really excited about it!

Not really since FFXI didn't really interest me enough to make me pick it up. Who know though it may have something that peaks my interest. If you could creat more interesting avatar then the previous one then I may look it up.
I'm not really into MMORPGS.

I think I'm going to jump on this one when it comes out. FFXI had all these expansions by the time I was going to get it, and so many new MMOs were out that I just put the game back and left the store empty handed.
I just hope I have time for this AND Starwars: Old Republic MMO. I wont be able to pick otherwise. I'll be left behind again! NOOOOoooO!

Like razama I feel torn between SW Old Republic and FFXIV. I think I just going to wait a month after each comes out to let people flame if they find something wrong. If theres is nothing wrong with either I'll problely jump on FFXIV.

Sony wants their network to be free (like it is atm)...if FF14 online is free, sure why not. We'll have to see.

They need to reduce the amount of grinding and make it an option to level on your own.
By the way, Sony and PlayOnline are two different companies. It doesn't matter whether or not Sony's service is free, you'll still have to pay a monthly fee for PlayOnline to renew your subscription.

wooooooooooooo, my 1st post!!
anyways, i am really eager to see how this game is going to be. and to finally have a game that allows PS3 and 360 users to play with each other (...both ways?!?!) just sounds moztletolv
but then again, there are already too many great announced games coming out this year and next year to even buy them all.....they need to calm down

I highly doubt that SE will make it free. It's probably going to be a subscription based game like FFXI.
Right now they have only announced it for the PC and PS3 but said they are "considering Microsoft hardware". I guess that means the 360. I would imagine that porting a game to multiple platforms isn't easy.
As for soloable content, they announced that they plan on including much more and reducing the need for having to party up to gain levels.
I think the most interesting aspect of the game that has been announced is that they said FFXIV will not have the traditional experience point leveling up system. Rather they said that a player's choice of weapons will greatly affect their development.
They say the game is focused on weapons and character growth, and that one day you use one weapon, and another you use a next, will affect how your character develops.
Very interesting.

Yes, porting a game to multiple platforms isn't easy. There are very few that do a good job at it. The job could be better if they start with the PS3 version first and then move on to the 360 since people have a harder time with the PS3 version. More problems arise with developing the PS3 version with the code and such that causes the team to be held back from the dated schedule and a bit rushed. Some companies have alread said this and people still start off with the 360 version first.

Honestly I could careless if FFXIV comes out after FFXV as long as it lives up to not sucking. I really wished they would've just kept it under wraps like they've been doing for the last 5 years. That way there'd be no pressure. But whatever. I'm gonna get the PS3 version as I don't have a PC that could run it and, It'll definitely come out on PS3 before 360. (well...I hope. >.>) And there's that whole Blue-ray thing. A lot of people say it doesn't look that much better but I disagree. I saw a Blue-ray displayed movie in 1080p and me and everyone else stopped and ogled for a second.
I'm still stoked. ^^
