For those that have the Japanese version of PS3/Xbox 360

Can you change the language from Japanese to English? I already know that it can't play American games. So, if you a game from Japan, can you change language on the game or will be looking stupid and wondering what the hell the game characters are saying?

You have to go to the system settings and switch the language to English if possible or in-game. Not all games support this, I have my American 360 in Japanese, but games like Hitman and Black Ops II appear in English, however, Ninja Gaiden II is set on Japanese by default.

I could play my us games with my import ps3. Isn't ps3 region free on almost every game that ntsc?

The PS3 has no region lock and can play any game except one or two rare games. It can also be set to any language where the PS3 is sold. This is under the settings. The Xbox is more complicsted. While i've never tried changing the language the games are mixed in region locking. Some are, some aren't. You'd have to look a game up to know.
