Games Too Hard That You Quit

Im interested in any games that were almost impossible to beat for PS2 consoles and later. I need a challenge now cuz all these new games are so easy, even on their hard difficulties.

-Ninja Gaiden Sigma
-Max Payne 3
-Vanquish
These games can be beat. However, if you want the platinum, the trophy that shows you truly mastered it on PS3, its gonna be one hell of a bitch. I consider myself pretty skilled but these truly are for the hardcore masochist.
I do intend to aim for the platinums, but for that I seriously need to invest an insane amount of energy which I don't have atm.

Vanquish, but I only played the demo. I'm scared to play it, but I'll pick it up someday.

Shinobi for the PS2 is STILL one of the hardest games around in my list of unforgiving games to beat. Seriously, if you can't kill enemies fast enough to stay alive in this game, you're not going to get far in it.

That one Hitman game with the sniper in Japan level. No wait, I suck so bad, I got my uncle to beat it for me.

Cryostasis (PC), a russian horror game where you resolve the mysteries about a ghost ship.
It's beatable, but hard. It was one of two games where I had to make pauses on each session because it got to my stomach.
Stalker and Metro were also quite hard.
Rainbow Six Lockdown (Multiplatform)
beatable, but still hard.

Cave Story in itself isn't that hard, but the secret final level (to get the good ending) is ridiculously hard. I've gotten to the final boss but I still haven't beaten him yet. The boss himself might not be the most difficult thing in the world, but the entire level is a gauntlet, complete with another boss you have to fight before the final boss. No checkpoints, and if you're lucky you still have the 1 Life Jar the game gives you.
Also, music rhythm games like Beatmania and DJMAX can have some very difficult note charts for songs. There are songs like Nightmare and Angelic Layer. There are DJMAX games for PSP as well as the pc DJ MAX Trilogy. Beatmania is an arcade game, though you could find ways to play on your pc. Beatmania I have to warn is extremely strict with timing, and is for masochists only.

Killzone 2 on elite difficulty.
Playing the campaign on this difficulty won't look so bad at first, that is, until you reach the 3 chocke points. The final battle with Radec will be one of the hardest things you will do in a video game. I still believe the final battle should have its own trophy for how insanely difficult it is.
I won't lie, this game almost brought me to tears and ragequit.
Elite difficulty trophy
Currently only 5% hold this trophy. I'm one of them.
Another game that is up there with Killzone in terms of difficulty is Call Of Duty: World at War on veteran difficulty.

I tried getting at least a AA on DDR X: Pluto Relinquish's Challenge chart. After an entire year of attempting it over and over in my free time, I quit DDR all together. This was about 3 years ago. Compared to IIDX though, this is pretty much child's play.

Yamato
The Tactician
Never found a game so hard that I quit but if you want a challenge that isn't just because of artificial difficulty play any of the Souls games or Bloodborne. For regular turn based RPG's like the guy above me said Shin Megami Tensei is a good challenge

God, hated that game, but kept wanting to play more. Only problem is after a few days of not playing it, I had to relearn my skills.
Though, I remember my friend having a difficult time beating a boss, I just grabbed the controller and first try, beat him. He was speechless.

XCOM: Enemy Within on the hardest difficulty as not the battles but the overall game is hard due to the fact of not really being able to keep the men and women alive long enough to get strong. It is a turn based 3rd person shooter with RTS elements with you being the over all commander of course. In the beginning of it it is very hard that I quit a few times but towards the end it does yes get very easy once you figure out how to configure the troops so they are not likely to die the first time they get hit probably the 2nd time as the enemies hit very hard at the end but not the first time also that snipers in it are totally OP. Besides for the snipers that have to be " promoted " once to get the upgrade to be able to shoot within the sight range of other squad mates and it is a hard game as the enemies hit hard, the amount of enemy life compared to how much you do is a lot, and there are around 9 to 38 of them per battle to which you only get 4 ppl in total to work with and that's it.
XCOM: Enemy Unknown is actually pretty easy thus why I said XCOM: Enemy Within same game on steam as you buy them together I guess just very different game play because of the restraints and changes to game play in XCOM: Enemy Within.
The other one which made me rage quit is really just LoL even though yes I know it is a fairly easy one it is still frustrating if you meet the wrong ppl on it and get mad at it to soon or choose the wrong champion to play as and/or etc. like that.
