Games you forgot existed ( until now)
0
Recently I came across two titles I completely forgot about until recently and one was a great memory and the other... Not so much. So let's recall the wierd, small time games we once played.
( you may be thinking how can I post about a game I forgot existed? Well mr/ ms smartass, this thread could also be considered the odd games you used to play thread)
The two I recently remembered:
virtual fighter- yes it's a franchise but somehow it just never ever stuck with me and I guess that's cause it's probably one of the crappier fighting games.

Chameleon twist (specifically chameleon twist 2)- this game I really want to play again. It was so fun and pure n64 platforming goodness. And riding around using your yoshi esc tongue was always super fun.

I'd forgotten all about Jade Cocoon on the PS1 until very recently. Studio Ghibli staff did the backgrounds and cutscenes, and while it was pretty short, it was a really fun RPG with a decent story. Just a shame you couldn't turn off the voices. >.<

This game is so weird if you're a kid. It's trippy.

I got that game thinking it was a different top shooter... they all looked alike to me.

I bought the ID Super Pack during the Steam Summer Sale. I had to port Doom to OpenGL, as it hurt my eyes to play. Luckily Quake came GL preconfigured.

This.
It used to be my favorite back then.

Digging through my old games, I found this:

Descent, the first game to make me nauseous and made me ask the question "Where the hell is up?". (second one was Crysis, the part were you where in zero-g)

Great game to load up and spend a few hours (or months) building up credits for the next new more powerful ship.
Sid Meier's: Pirates!
Another great "casual" game to load up when you've got nothing to do.
Azure Dreams (GBC/PSX)
A Mystery Dungeon-like RPG where you raise monsters and explore a "giant" tower. (GBC version has a larger dungeon, PSX is more challenging and has more sidequests.)
Actraiser
Sidescrolling action-platformer combined with a town raising sim. The larger the population in your towns the higher your level as well as greater opportunities to find new types of magic and other items.
Brain Lord
An action RPG that requires a good deal of thinking in order to get past some of the puzzles includes a (somewhat) unique method of adding creatures to help fight beside you. Throughout the game you can find various pieces of Jade and each one carries a different type of fairy within it. Some help you fight by either throwing fireballs or orbs of water, some help to heal or revive you others increase your defense or provide light in dark areas so you don't kill yourself by jumping in a pit or onto spikes. You can gather/buy different types of magic and weapons including swords, morningstars, boomerangs and axes. There's no mana or MP for spellcasting, just simply hold the attack button until the magic bar is full and release to fire your favorite spell. (God I love old-school Enix games.)
And plenty of others I can't think of right now.

Fuck yeah to those last three. Bullfrog formed the basis of Peter Molyneaux's Lionhead Studios, though, if I remember rightly. It's like the amazing Spyglass Studios (Thief, System Shock), whose staff moved on to all sorts of incredibly successful projects after the company closed. Check the wiki, it's ridiculous.

All I had was a demo. It's a top shooter. Touhou seems impossible after watching this game's gameplay.

Kiss-Shot
Soba-Scans Staff
Spoiler:
Ridiculously hard game but watching LP's on the net from people who can play it with skill you can see what a beautiful great game it is.

Dead Rising. I never played the original, but I knew about it's popularity for quite some time. Until I saw the E3 videos on GT I had forgotten that such a zombie game existed.
