I don't know about you, but I don't actually throw away my consoles, and don't plan to either. Heck, I still got my Mega Dive and Game Boy Colour. Oh and if they contain toxic materials, then don't eat the consoles

Yeah, I've still got my consoles back to my Atari 2600(which is still fun to hook up and play once in awhile).

Uh, I'm glad Greenpeace warned me in time.
I was just about to eat my PS2, that would've taken a bad ending with all the PVC in it, thanks for the warning!

Is it just me, or are peoples mouth are big and teeth are really strong today to withstand ingesting those console to that greenpeace could send a warning? You could've just burn the console down and inhale those "toxic" to your lungs. Although some people "ingesting" it before they could get warned, my sympathies...
Enough with my joke.
But this one's hillarious... ^o^

Its terrible, somewhere in the third world, people are starving, they are being forced into eating their 8 bit NES consoles. Refugee camps are overflowing with people sick from eating these evil toxic consoles.

If green peace wants to keep my respect they should get back in little dinghies and ride in front of whaling ships. That was hardcore. There are much more important issues to be dealing with right now, instead of toxic consoles

Did anyone knew that nintendo works making their consoles environmentally friendly? perhaps some of their consoles aren't really toxic and GreenPeace hates videogames

Companies are trying to make them more environmentally friendly but they still contain contain trace amounts of lead and other harmful chemicals so Greenpeace is going to have a field day.

I didn't read the article but actually they're not that wrong. Even on standby consoles take up loads of power. If you leave a PS2 on standby for a year, never once actually playing it, it still takes up around £25/$50 of electricity. I know that's not exactly going to break the bank but it does show how inefficient the power usage is. At a time when most countries are trying to reduce their power usage thus reducing carbon emissions and so on, knowing that consoles take up lots of power even when not being used does put them in a bad light.
As for the "toxic materials" thing, aren't they referring to the fact that when they're disposed of they're bad for the environment (as are mobile phone batteries and printer cartridges) rather than if you eat them they're bad for you? Since Greenpeace are an environmental organisation rather than a health organisation, I'd say that's what they're getting at.
