Growlanser: Wayfarer of Time (aka Growlanser4: OverReloaded)
0
Growlanser: Wayfarer of Time (aka Growlanser IV: Over Reloaded) is the PSP port of the classic Growlanser IV, but loaded to over capacity with action, plot twists, new characters, new animations, new relationships, and more endings than 30 RPGs combined.
Official Site is now up: http://www.atlus.com/growlanserpsp/index.html
Game's World:
2000 years ago, humankind progressed in magic and science, and built an advanced civilization. However, they came into battle against powerful angels, and were slain to the brink of extinction.
_Humankind revived eventually from this downfall and rebuilt new civilization. However, the battle with the angels was so devastating that many things were lost, such as the technologies of magic and science. In the present time, there is no one who knows the truth of what happened; there are only myths that speak of "magic" and "angels that punished humanity". Even the existence of the angels who destroyed mankind have been reduced to legend and folklore.
Even as eras change and pass, war occurs among humans.
...But, as one might imagine, the malevolent angels come back and the key to stopping them and saving mankind is in the form of a young mercenary known as Crevanille (default name, but can be chosen by the player).
Additional Info:

If you like JRPGs with complicated themes, a plot clouded in mystery and dark adventure, a wide cast of unique characters, and a story that revolves around how you play and interact with the cast, then this is a must-buy.
EDIT:
A problem with licensing the Japanese VA work and comment on the lack of Eng VA work:
"Atlus USA also specify that, while the game’s animated cutscenes will be fully-voiced, the rest of the game is unvoiced. This is due to licensing restrictions in the case of the game’s Japanese voice track. Additionally, Atlus say that the “vastly expanded script” proved prohibitive to providing an English voice track."

Well, it is a business related issue and cost related issue, and it's not like Atlus is pulling a lazyass SEGA by cutting out parts of the game and extra content to save localization time (ala Yakuza 3).
It's disappointing, but understandable.
EDIT 2: Game comes out July 31st

Already playing, currently on Hiatus because my PSP is getting to old to play, and suffers from chronic freezing disorder. Need to find a new one.
Used the newest Familiar Type D-MD, Which I pretty much like.

Type D-LN, looks too much like Frayne one of the main heroine.
Type D-TP, looks too much like Tippy (GL 1)
Type D-LM, looks too much like Raimy (GL 3)
I stopped in the middle of Chapter 2, roughly after Mission 12.

Haha~! It's good to see you in on this, Kaimax! First Extra and now this one.
She looks pretty damn cute, though I'm a sucker for a woman in a sweater like Pamela. How is she in a fight?
Like when I first made the Extra/CCC thread, even though I'm pumped for this game to be released Stateside(I remember seeing this artist's work before, and the 90's art style is so gorgeous and nostalgic for me), I don't know too much about it aside from the backstory and premise. I'm really surprised there hasn't been a Growlanser IV thread until now (I checked and found nothing).
_Let me ask, mate, because I have to know:

Well, since I'm still at chapter 2, nothing much is revealed about the angels.

Well might I say "HELLOOO~ NURSE!"

Oh I thought you were on CH2 on a second playthrough. No idea why I thought that, but nevermind. Give me shout once you find out anything, ay?
I keep going back once in a while to watch the trailer for this game. It's been so long since I've seen this kind of animation. Like seeing an old friend for the first time in ten years. It's both refreshing and nostalgic.

Nothing better than receiving an e-mail from AtlusUSA. I wonder if they'll be putting up any pre-order bonuses when the time comes closer.
Considering I only have enough for one more game, and have yet to find a job, I'm gonna have to pass up Tales of Graces to make sure I have something left over for Growlanser.
Sigh. Damn job market...

Oh no they are cutting the voices due to restriction(licensing costs) only voices will be around the animated cutscenes. I'm going to preorder and hopefully someone will post a patch adding in the rest of voices.

You still have to pay for the VA work during the animated scenes so... How the hell does this work?
Where'd you find that info, mate? I mean, it's not all that bad, I suppose. Persona 2 was mostly like that, too (only voiced during boss fights, for fight moves, and at the very end scene), but it's still disconcerting.
EDIT: Nevermind, mate. I just found it. It makes more sense with the explanation.
...Well not really, but the lack of English VA work makes sense.

ATLUS needs to learn from NISA or Askys, they can just leave the original Japanese voice...

Just a theory.
Still, if it wasn't for the damn licensing issue we'd be able to enjoy the game as you are, mate. I can manage since, again, not that big of a deal on a whole, but it is irritating to know we won't be able to fully experience the title like it was meant to be experienced.
Relish every single sound clip the next time you play, Kaimax.
Listen to it twice as hard for all of us.

I'm so sorry, mate. You must be going through so much...
But seriously, that sucks. Hope you find a good work around, or maybe somebody who knows how to fix it at a reasonable price. What happened to it?

It's already beyond repair. It's not totally broken, but you'll probably throw into the wall rather than playing with it.
Basically, My PSP will randomly shut down by itself.

Could be a battery problem. Try using it on the charger, and if it doesn't randomly shut off then you just need a new battery. If it still does then you need to send it in to get it repaired, or browse through fifty Tube vids of other folks opening up their PSPs to fix them.
About all I got. Wish I could help more.

Nope, it's more of a "inner" power supply problem. No matter how many times I send it in for repairs, it'll eventually goes back to it's broken state, Analog is pretty broken too.

Well, shit. Sorry to hear that, mate. I was kind of hoping that battery tidbit would help you out. I guess there's nothing for it, then. Will you buy another one? I've known folks who've given up on their handheld games once something like this happened to them, but it'd be a real shame to never accomplish at least half of those 40+ endings in Growlanser/not have a PSP for when Fate/Extra CCC eventually gets an NA announcement and release.

Bumping because this game is really good. I've started playing it recently and the battle system, art, and story are excellent. I've always liked Satosho Urushihara's art but now I'm really gaining a greater appreciation of his work. The character portraits are beautiful and I love his style. I did buy the retail copy but I'm playing the undubbed version instead. The voices really do make all the difference. Anybody who wants to play this game should support Atlus and buy it but then download the undub and play that. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad Atlus even takes the time to localize niche PSP games like these, but actually having voices is a way better experience.
