I'm pretty sure that Reach was a colony where many of the Spartans trained or we located... other than Master Chief of course. The planet was bombed by Covenant and all the Spartans were killed. Master Chief was on a different planet getting drugged up and ready for war. It should be the earliest in the time-line since Master Chief wasn't even up yet.

No Reach was actually a UNSC owned planet that acted as the base of operations. What was in the trailer, if that really is Reach, is the Covenant arriving and glassing the entire planet. At the moment of attack, i think the chief was actually making his was to the pillar of autumn or on it, i kinda forgot.

I don't know how the game would play out though. Inevitably, the Spartans die. So... there is no good ending to this but having dozens of Spartans on ONE planet is overkill. How the hell would anyone fight that. Maybe they aren't as strong as Master Chief but still if one guy can fight several armies then these super soldiers would just tear everything apart.

I don't know. I really wish they would stop with ODST. Microsoft loves to dig into Nintendo for milking their franchises and lacking originality, but they want to do that with Halo. Whatever makes you money.

I'm pretty interested of that Halo ODST movie as well which should be coming someday somemonth someyear. Have seen some trailers about it.

Oh well this thou looks a bit interesting, but i already like how did the Halo 3 end, so i don't have such a high interest to see how this one looks like bla bla.

This will be interesting to actually play the Fall of Reach. The book was interesting enough when the first Halo game was out.

I'm looking forward to this game, it should be a good addtion to the series. I think that the reason why they decided to make the game was people kept asking how it all started, the war, chief's training, etc.. And I joke they mainly don't have much plot writing to do because of the book. Of which, if no one has read the novels yet, and your a halo fan, you really should try and read them. Especially the first one, The Fall Of Reach. It answers alot of questions you might have about the game.

I agree with Shiori. The Halo Universe still has a lot of potential. I like the idea of getting to experience it through a different perspective. And if the game itself is good the title shouldn't matter.

And come on, who didn't expect them to milk a franchise as lucrative as Halo...? It would be dumb of them not to.

its base on the book. So if you read the book you'll know what happens . And why Master Chief is the last one surviving. Epic fights are to happen, hopefully they get it right.

This should be a prequel to Halo 1, since Reach was COMPLETELY destroyed and shouldn't be anything thus why it won't be a continue to the Halo 3 ending. Which might up being a movie lol

Spoiler Alert, details of the book Fall of Reach and possibly the game.

Spoiler:

A few months before the events of Halo 1, most of the remaining Spartans (about 25 iirc) are gathered at the UNSC's HQ on Reach. Humanity's back is against the wall and the leaders of the UNSC decide to sent the best soldiers they have on a last ditch effort to end the war with the Covenant. The plan is to steal a Covenant ship, refit it, go to the covenant homeworld, capture their leader and force a truce. The ship they will use to steal a Covenant ship is the Pillar of Autumn. With the Spartans on board and about to leave, the mission is scrubbed as the Covenant begain attacking Reach. Most of the Spartans are sent to Reach's surface to defend the generators for the anti-ship guns in orbit. Master Chief and two other Spartans are sent to a space station to destroy navigation data that would lead the Covenant to Earth. One Spartan is lost in space and the other incapacitated until after the events of Halo 1. The Spartans on the surface of Reach are forced to split their forces. Most remain at the generators, a few are sent to secure a fall back position at a underground UNSC facility, 4-5 go to assist an admiral who stayed behind to detonate a super nuke or deliver it to the Covenant so it blows up in their face. 3 others go to destroy a Covenant ship reinforcing the attack on the generators. The generators fall to the Covenant and heavy losses are taken by all groups. The fall back position is attacked and the Spartans retreat deeper into the UNSC facility until they enter the mine it was built in. These cave lead deep down into Forerunner ruins which is the Covenant's real interest after clearing most of the humans off Reach. By this time MC has escaped from Halo on a Covenant ship and returns to Reach to search for any remaining Spartans. He finds two Spartans with the admiral who tells the actions of the Covenant. Sure there are still Spartans in the UNSC facility MC conducts what can only be referred to as balls out rescue. Leaving Reach with about 8-9 Spartans on a Covenant ship MC turns to his original mission of capturing the enemy leadership. Following a transmission that indicates the Covenant has found Earth and are preparing a fleet to attack. The Spartans sneak into the flagship and end up blowing it up. In the end 7 Spartans return to Earth before the beginning of Halo 2.

The game probably takes place somewhere in that.

Note all numbers are subject to my crappy memory.

You know that wasn't the trailer for a movie right?, It was merly an Live Action trailer for the game.

Anyway from what I've read in the novels the fall of Reach is a kickass event to base a game upon ( Still wondering why they hadn't done it sooner ) since it's the second heaviest defened planet next to Earth and contained most of the UNSCs navy and armies, it's also what started the main even of the previous halo games and the begining of when humanity grew desperate.

Also at the time when Reach was attacked all of the living / combatable Spartans was present so I'd supose it's gonna contain lot of Spartan Action. ( Might even get a cameo of Master Chief himself )
