Halo Wars

Got to admit it is looking pretty good as a RTS series and sticking true to the halo franchise as well. I think I'm really going to enjoy this game.

Thought I'm not going to reserve it I'm definitly going to buy it
That it's Ensemble Studios ''last'' game makes it well worth to buy ( that it's about halo is just a + on the side )

I reserved this a while ago. Got me the LE editions since the additions are very nice. As for the controls, it actually works pretty well. I have never tried any other console RTS but from what I hear, they tend to cram everything you can do on a keyboard into a 14 button controller. While this game is a bit simple, the controls work well.

i've got the demo and its pretty simple to control,i couldnt say anythin negative at this point since i only have the demo and not full game but i reckon dat the gameplay is pretty balanced. UNSC are pretty larege numbers and cheap to make. but covies are smaller and more xpensive, but totally dominate in late game. (scrabs, locust and REgret FTW!!!)

So I played this the rest of the day after class, for about 6 or 7 hours. The campaign has been good so far.
The multiplayer has had it's ups and downs. The first game I played with my friends, 3 of us versus 3 randoms, was a blast. Everyone was UNSC, and the players on each team had a different commander. The battle lasted over 2 hours, we had some huge, epic brawls in the middle. We ended up losing, but I had fun. The next 3 games ended within 30 minutes each. One of those we were attacked in mass so suddenly that we broke and lost. Another we got pummeled by continuous scarab and prophet attacks. And the last, we were over-ran by players who built nothing but fully upgraded warthogs, and when you have 120 guass cannons coming at you, it's easy to get overrun.
In the end, I'd like to whine and complain about these and say I hated the game, but at least we were killed a different way each time, and I did manage to have a lot of fun in one of them.

In free play or Campaign, Is it possible to build out of base or are you constricted to the main base of operations? I've played the demo, so I think I have a general Idea of what it's like. I just hope I'm wrong.

Well technically, you can build turrents kinda randomly on one stage of campaign but no, everything is limited to specific spots.

Like naga said, it's just like the second level of the demo. There are preset zones ready to build bases, and construction slots around the bases for buildings and turrets. I don't think it's that much of a problem since there are usually enough positions for multiple bases scattered around, but I can understand that some people won't care for it.
