Left 4 Dead 2 Boycott
Are you boycotting Left 4 Dead 2?
0
So I have read a few things about a Left 4 Dead 2 boycott. That something like 25,000 gamers were boycotting the release of L4D 2, because it was so quick. So I thought I would see how many here were joining the boycott.
Personally I think it’s crazy to boycott a game because it came out to early. Especially because of Valves problem with releasing games 500 years after the first game. I think this is a good way for them to add a bit of tactics to L4D, I thought that was it’s only flaw.

Personally, I think all of these past and current cries for boycott of game X because the developers didn't follow the outlandish wish Y of vocal fanboy retard minority Z are naught but an endless source of amusement for both me and Valve.
So what if 25.000 slack-jawed ninnies pretend they're going to boycott it? 20.000 of those are probably going to end up buying it anyways, and even if not, 25.000 sales more or less are nothing to an A-title like L4D (2.5 million units sold by end of March in retail alone).
It's okay not to buy the game if you don't like it, but making a whiny, attention-whoring sobfest about it is nothing short of risible. What are they going to do next? Start an online petition? *SHRIEK!*

I'm not sure if I'm 'boycotting' it, but I haven't touched L4D in forever because it is basically the same thing over and over again. I haven't watched the trailer yet so I don't know what is new in l4d2, but I can't imagine it being anything to get excited about.

I'm just fine with L4D2 coming out already. I mean its all about money. I think too many old time PC gamers think too highly of Valve, but that is ridiculous. They are a gaming developer just like everyone else and they are going to do everything they can to make money. They'll make a lot of money by releasing L4D2 now instead of updating L4D; if you want to be mad at them for that I suppose it is your choice, but it seems a bit foolish to me.

I'm thinking of getting the game, even if it's only been a year because I like Left 4 Dead. I'd rather wait a couple of weeks and read peoples' opinion about it, and that will help in my decision making process.

i agree with gibbous, there's no need to make such a fuss about it. if you don't like it then don't buy it.
im not really excited about the game but i did like the first one, if my friends buy it chances are ill be getting it as well so i can play with them.

I have sorta mixed feelings about this. So far, based on the trailer, they could of just patched all this stuff into L4D. Or release it as an expansion pack.
I guess my final decision on buying it or not would be on the pricing.

I'm too lazy to boycott it anyways lol but even so I'd still buy the game, my friends are buying it and they do understand that a sequel came out to early but they don't really care they just wanna game. And yeah I've said it about a dozen times they could of just patched or made an add-on to the first left4dead game rather than make a sequel. But like everyone is saying its all about the money so go figure.

Does it count as boycotting if I'm not paying just because I don't feel like paying for it because I didn't even think the first one was worth paying for?

well think about it: L4D is pretty fun, you play it for a week, then u hear L4D 2 is comin out soon, and ur like "huh? are they sure?"
maybe gamers are afraid that they are in such a rush to make it, it will suck terribly. or maybe the staff made both L4D and L4D 2 at the same time, or know what they are doing. idk
but i dont think boycotting a game is a smart idea. so no. but im not taking sides here.

I voted yes. No, I'm not going to take any action and sign a petition or anything, but I think L4D2 is absolutely retarded and I probably won't buy it. Why wouldn't they just patch that stuff in? Oh yeah, because they know people will buy L4D2 because the first sold so well. It's not like they redefined the game, they just added some new stuff. Not to mention the game hasn't even been out for a year.

I won't boycott L4D 2 because I really couldn't care less... I mean they won't just scrap all that they've done. They can't. After showing it at E3 they can't just say "Oh we decided not to release it since a couple people are boycotting it" its just stupid. L4D 2 is going to be horrible. I'll rent it but I won't buy it. They're making the game
[size=10]from what it seems[/h]
...easier. When they first started L4D they clearly said this is the kind of game that you will lose the majority of the time. The fact that they're adding fire ammo or whatever which can take down a tank easy is just fucking around with that concept.

I have a feeling many more people are going to buy it rather than not buy it. A few people who disagree with Valve's decision isn't going to stop them, just like it didn't stop every other gaming developer out there.

Well the theory behind it is that if they boycott it then Valve won’t do this again.
As for valve just wanting money I have to disagree. Valve is one of the few companies that is generically good about not ripping people off. Look at TF2 updates there free and the Xbox update is supposed to be free (of course Microsoft disagrees the assholes! Epic Games anyone?).

Updates = ongoing customer interest = additional sales.Yes, but they could charge for the updates and they don't there even "fighting" Microsoft for free updates, we know people will buy updates they don’t charge because they care about people playing their games. There a company yes so there looking to make money, but I'm saying there not like those greedy basted’s at Microsoft.

Perhaps, but the reason Microsoft is able to clench IPs, businesses and other markets away from Nintendo and Sony is because they make so much of surplus sales on 360s now. So it really depends on what side of the fence you are looking from.
Microsoft has become one of those things that it is just cool to hate on, I'm afraid. Now I think a lot of us have genuine complaints about Microsoft, but I think a lot of the gamers (particularly those of the fanboy console wars) only hate on Microsoft because that's what is popular right now.
Makes me think back on the 16-bit wars almost more fondly.
