Wow, this is the first time I've seen a translated novel thread without anyone posting in it for half a year.

People now are more "Drama-biased"

and stereotyped games like this ARE BORING LIKE HELL, without even trying it.

This is one of the Ironic part of "our" "Translation industry". (almost) ALL major translators will always, ALWAYS translate something DRAMA heavy, and considers these kinds as "almost" nothing.

Food for though
How many lighthearted Story VNs that got translate lately?

I respect the time gurumao invested in putting this topic together and uploading the stuff.
Personally I don't like the interactive DVD-format. Phantom:Inferno was more than enough, even though I haven't seen all the endings, only the major ones. The most annoying part is how slow skip is, or actually it's just missing, because u just fast forward. I have this sitting in one of my hd's somewhere. tried playing it and just stopped for after 15 mins or so.Hunted down some reviews and it confirmed my suspicion; it's not for me.
Maybe that's why. . .Correct me if I'm wrong. I never bothered buying interactive DVD's either. . .

edit: kaimax and typo's, because the preview somehow doesn't work

How about Edelweiss eden fantasia and Cosplay alien?
I think these were the most recent translated works of mangagamer. . . I don't really know about cosplay alien because I never got to play more than 30 mins before I deleted it, though the install is somewhere. . . PLaytesting is for these kind of games . . .

you're comparing fan-translation with company translation. It's like comparing: who likes pears and who likes apples.
But I understand you point of view. Drama sells for now. Wish schooldays has a full translation. It's a blessing that everything was voiced(except notes exchange), so I can play it without atlas.

The amount of effort that is required to translate a vn makes fan-based translators do top-graded VNs only, and the rating is mostly story based, majority rules after all. Putting a lot of effort into a game that not many like other then themselves isn't much motivation either.

Unlike animes, where every single anime released gets subbed

There aren't enough people translating VNs into english, with so many top graded games left untranslated for so long, it's hard to even think of the light hearted ones.

Even so, there are some good light hearted comedy ones like Osadai that gets tl-ed because of it's actually funny and good.
