I like your reasoning, And Yes the Spear/Halberd Kicks ass. High damage and chances to stop Opponents attack and/or Counter. Better than my Pole, but pole seems to have a higher chance to disarm people according to my observations.
I also hate when your up against whips... Moderate damage and high chance disarm/counter... :(
But I guess this is a game about luck/probability...

Lol, thats wrong! Once a guy pulls out a hammer then you and your club is fucked XP.

Hell yeah ! -- one of my minions won his first 6 fights in a row, achieving lvl 3 before resting. Those throwing stars kick sting butt !

Oh and - bears are no prob as long as you have the most useless ability ever - the net ! My lvl 3 brute clashed against a lvl 6 bear master and kicked his ass after immobilizing the furry bugger (stopped attacking the bear after that so it never got out).

Actually, I find the net the most useful abilities ever as long as you can cover it with an amazing hit. It ensrues no dodge and can be a deciding factor in the game if it is thrown out at the right moment.

I had a battle against a guy that went like this:

We both had broadswords and pulled them out at the beginning. After a couple of hits, my guy threw away the broadsword and pulled out a fucking knife, a weaker weapon! Then, after one hit with the knife, he threw it at the opponent and had to use his fists. No surprise that I lost.

Shit, if he was going to get rid of the broadsword, why not throw it at the opponent?

If your unarmed, your hits will do just one damage, while my sword only did like 5 dmg. Autowin for the enemy.
