N64: Nostalgia or is my memory hazy?

Howdy neighbors, hoping you guys can help me with a bit of a weird memory problem. Now I first got into gaming when I found a old N64 at my aunts house when I was staying there for a while. The two games it had where what I'm certain was Ocarina of time and Star Fox, now here's the weird thing. The graphics on the games were pretty good. I mean good for what Nintendo could do at the time, not only that I distinctly remember that in the Zelda game, there was no little item slots near the top of the screen. And ontop of that in star fox when you went to the first boss it started off with the walker and not the one battleship. Now you could chalk this up to hazy memories/nostalgia (I was like, 10 or so I think, not sure) but something keeps bugging me about it. Have any of you guy seen N64 games like that? If so, maybe I'm not just being irked about nothing. Thanks!

Try playing Starfox 64 again, and this time, fly through all the stone arches when you get to the water part with the robit water skiers.
If you went through all 7 of them, Falco (if he is still alive) will guide you to the 'battleship.'
If you don't go through the arches, you'll fight a 'walker' fool who will lead you to the easy path of the game - the battleship leads you to the hard path.

On the Zelda game I actually used a few files that where originally on there, one started on death mountain. Link was still in child form and had a Hylian shield. And when I did use a new file I do remember getting the wood shield and sword cuz I fought one of those deku seed spitting things in the woods, there were still no item slots. Was there some version of Ocarina made for GameCube or something? Because that would explain why the graphics looked so good and the screen looked different.
As for the Star Fox thing I'll probably have to save up Nintendo points and buy it on my Wii or something because I never took the N64 from my aunts house (my mom wasn't big on me being a gamer at the time) I don't even know if she still has it.

there was an ocarina of time for the gamecube, but it is just a port and not a remake. you might be thinking of Twilight Princess, but that was a Wii/GCN game and not N64
