Pcsx2 with Dragon Quest 8

Hey everyone I need help with running dragon quest 8 on emulator. Since i'm mainly a pc gamer and love rpgs I wanted to try dragon quest 8 but unlike the rest of the ps2 games i've tried,the lag on this is ridiculous. I have an i3 laptop with 2gb ram. It usually suffices for the other ps2 games that i've tried on pcsx2. I'd really appreciate it if anyone has any idea or tips to help

Sorry, I can't be of any help; I play all of my PS2 games on my PS2. I have never had a problem running DQ8 on it though. DQ8 is a great game and I definitely recommend playing it. Is buying a PS2 not an option? It can't be that expensive.

Dragon Quest 8's overworld is pretty damn impressive for its time. That's probably why it's not performing as well as your other games. I don't really know what you could do besides upgrading your rig.

Like KingRat said, your rig is pitiful. I'm surprised you can run PCSX2 to be honest. If it is not your rig, then it is the game. PCSX2 has no problem emulating most PS2 games, but there are some games that it will simply not run. For example, Star Wars Battlefront 1 and Ratchet & Clank 1. You could degrade the graphics all you want but you'd be lucky if you got more than 10fps for Battlefront and 15fps for R&C.
Honestly, it would just be easier to purchase the game and console than deal with the frustration PCSX2 dishes out sometimes.
