Pokemon "Genwunners"

I WANT TO MAKE IT CLEAR THAT I HAVE NOTHING AGAINST GENERATION 1, JUST THE NOSTALGIA-BLINDED FANBOYS
This is a sore topic for the Pokemon fandom, (especially with the recent release of generation 6,) and I'm sure I'm going to get a ton of flak from this...
If you don't know what 'Genwunner' is; they're those so-called Pokemon fans that will mindlessly hate all generations but generation 1.
Yes, all communities have these, (don't get me started on BF2, FF7, and OoT fanboys,) but they are currently very prominent in Pokemon.
Now, I consider myself somewhat lucky.
I was relatively late to the gaming scene in my generation. When I was younger, I was always jealous of my friends with their N64s and Gameboys.
It wasn't until the GameCube was released that I had my own console, and a few years later, I got a Gameboy Advance.
The reason I consider myself lucky is because I was introduced into gaming after the 3D 'boom,' yet before the 'modern console' prime. I had no bias, I just knew games were fun.
I had played Pokemon at my friend's places before, starting with Gold and Silver.
But the first Pokemon game I owned was Pokemon Emerald Version.
Because I started at the midway, I was able to keep an open mind, while generation 1 fans had nostalgia on their side to put down the upcoming generations, and these day's so called 'newgenners' who hate generation 1 with a passion, just because of the few rotten eggs. (To make things clear, I don't believe all people that started with gen 1 are fools blinded by nostalgia, but a great deal of them are.)
I just want to address the points that Genwunners make against the new generations.
1. Pokemon Design
This is the big one Genwunners mostly aim for.
Their most common targets are Vanilluxe and Trubbish.
Now, though I don't particularly care for the design of these two myself, you can't tell me that they're the most unoriginal and uninspired Pokémon in the series.
The most common argument is that they're based on inanimate objects, instead of animals.
So tell me; what animals are Geodude, Magnemite and Grimer?
Another argument that completely contradicts the above argument is that they're all based off of animals, and are therefor uninspired.
Other arguments tackle the complexity and simplicity of pokemon.
Some say that Pokemon like Bidoof are too simple, and Pokemon should be badass.
What about Voltorb and Electrode? What about Ditto? What about Poliwhirl and Poliwrath?
And again, contradicting themselves once more, they say pokemon should be simple, and not badass and complex like Zoroark or Rayquaza.
2. Mechanics
Another big one.
Genwunners like to complain about everything and anything new.
Be it abilities, double battles, new HMs, or even berries!
Genwunners often complain about the newer types too, saying that Dark and Steel types ruined the balance.
What 'balance?' I would make a rough estimate that around 40% of gen 1 Pokemon are part poison.
The mechanics and 'balance' of the games has only improved with time. Abilities and natures have added greater depth to the game's battle and levelling systems. I've yet to play Gen 6, but am looking forward to it to find out all the new features, such as horde encounters.
Ugh...
As it is 3:40 am here, I really can't be bothered yakking on any further for now, but I may continue this later.
One more thing;
Genwunners call themselves Pokémon fans, yet where would pokemon be without the new generations?
Red and Blue would've died out some three or four years after release, and Pokemon would never be heard of again. Maybe just as the topic of some hipster conversation on 'what was popular in the nineties.'
You wouldn't even have anything to be a fan of.
(Apologies for any grammatical errors; I am on my phone, and this tiny keyboard is a right bastard to use.)

Genwunners are stupid. I've been playing Pokemon since Gen 1 and they've only gotten better. In Red and Blue, psychic types just wrecked everything and the Special and Attack stat corresponded to the move type (ex. fire, water, elec were Sp. and fighting, normal, poison were based on atk. stat), which made Hitmonchan learning Fire Punch, Ice Punch, and Thunder Punch pretty pointless. Admittedly, that didn't change until Diamond and Pearl I think, but still.
As for creativity, I'll admit some of the newer ones are kind of eh (I think in Gen 6 there is literally a key ring Pokemon), and there's been a billion birds/cats, but I actually saw an argument that said Trubbish/Garbodor were good for Pokemon because they were actually like monsters and not just adorable animals.
Either way, genwunners are stupid and are too attached to the past, like those twenty-somethings who always go on about how the 90's were the best and everything sucks now. I actually probably won't play X & Y because I don't have a 3DS, but if I ever get one, I'll try and pick one of 'em up.

I refuse to believe there are people who think the game was great and balanced in the first Gen.

Genwunners are the worst part of the Pokemon fanbase, for reasons earlier stated.
However, Pokemon X and Y is a mix of of the old and the new: Besides the fact that you can get Kanto starters extremely early on in the game(before the second gym), there's tons of homages to Red/Blue/Yellow(The first forest is literally Viridan Forest, the layout is 95% the same), hell even Team Flare's base is pretty much a copy paste of Team Rocket's in the old games, complete with the panels that make your character spin.

People who say Red and Blue are the best ones are blinded by nostalgia at best. It's easily one of the worst pokemon games. Just because something is the first doesn't mean it's the best.
1. The game was riddled with bugs. There's the infamous Missingno. glitch, the number city, various glitch pokemon in the code, etc. Go look up the glitch list on wikipedia, it's pretty terrible (and fun to look at).
2. The game was imbalanced. Because special was one stat, Psychic pokemon were horribly overpowered, mainly due to the fact that bug was the only thing that worked against it and there were no good bug moves (Megahorn was introduced in Gen 2).
3. A lot of things were poorly designed. There was no move deleter, so if you taught an HM you didn't want to one of your mains, then you're spit out of luck. Since all items were in the same bag slot regardless if they were key items or TMs, it was awkward to search through your bag (also it was annoying when you had no space left and found an item). Nobody misses how slow it was to walk everywhere, especially when you had long treks through caves. In fact pressing A on an obstacle to automatically use the corresponding HM wasn't even implemented till Gen 2.
If anything, I think Gen 2 is the best one because it fixed most of those problems (including the horrid back sprites) not to mention had a really long game if you include the post-game which involved going through Kanto.

I've never ran into one of these "genwunners" luckily, as I have been happy with the changes made over the years. Though I do agree with about some of the questionable pokemon designs, like Trubbish, but hell, they have made over 600 pokemon now, and can't fault them for trying something out.
Best part about the newer generations, Being able to run.
The only major change I wonder about, is the fairy type. I understand about trying to balance out dragons and opening up more creative options but, it's just hard to imagine Dragonite being murdered and raped by Jigglypuff.

Also corresponding to items. Gen 1 also didn't allow you to set the bicycle to something like select and such. So you had to physically search for your bicycle every time you wanted to use it. So if you wanted your bike easily, you had to put it at the top of your inventory which consisted of manually putting everything into your pc and then pulling it back out.
But of course you had limited space which includes your HMs and a bunch of useless crap you can't throw away (like the keycard from the Team Rocket Hideout which once used completely has no purpose but is impossible to throw away.)

I believe Pokemon has improved over each Generation.
I think you are biased too. No one can be free of the being biases Sin. :P

I bet every Genwunner died inside when
In retrospect, I laugh heartily at the prospect of someone killing themselves over such a convenient and clever tie-in.

"Genwunners", that's one I've never heard before.
Anyway, in almost all discussions I've had with people about what they think made Gen I the best, Missingno. and its item-duplication was always brought up. Makes you think, doesn't it?
I still want Missingno. to be a legit Pokemon. Without the game-breaking item duplication ability, obviously.

Genwunners are the worst kind. They try to defend gen 1 so much they contradict themselves. They say pokemon's shouldn't be ice cream, garbage or a key, pokemon should be animal like. When you look at gen 1, there's Geodude who's a rock, Graveler a bigger rock, and Golem a giant rock. Voltorb whose just a pokeball with a face. Grimer and Muk are just sludge, the list can go on.
Every Generation brought something unique to the fans. The Pokemon world is always changing every generation. No one can love every generation, I wasn't particularly fond of Johto because I felt it was incomplete. It was overshadowed by Kanto. They didn't even have their "own" E4 but shares it with Kanto.
