Proplems with PS3 controllers

This started a few days ago. I replaced the Hard Drive on my PS3 about a month ago and ever thing worked fine. then about a week ago I pushed the Home and the system turned on. everything worked, the system worked and turned on and went to the home screen but for some reason my controller wouldn't connect. The only way i can use them wireless now is plunging them into the USB cord, pressing the home button, then unplug. This inst a major problem, its just starting to become a hassle. Any one have any ideas?

Well my first bit of advice would be to call Sony's support center...actually that's my only bit of advice...I'm pretty sure I don't have to advise you to charge them.
