Sonic Unleashed

the first half of the trailers were mindblowingly awesome as i remembered the fast paced platformer that sonic is supposed to be.THEN SEGA had the BALLS to put a mediocre dynasty warriors-esque beat-them-up aspect to it.
It's like having a great erotic dream but in the middle of it the hot girl you were banging suddenly turned into a 1000 ton tub of lard.....
IT's so infuriating!!!!!, What the hell was SEGA thinking????
I hope more of this game is the beautiful platformer that is the first half of the trailers...
Indeed. It actually looks fast, something that the 360 Sonic game lacked. But atleast the fighting won't be tapping "B" repeatidly to do a homing attack on every single enemy on the screen.

I know, I thought SEGA was past all that reworking of the traditional Sonic formula. I geuss not.
The Wii Sonic game had the the closest feeling of speed, and SA2 had, at least the least fucked-up 3-D control scheme, but no 3-D Sonic game had been able to catch the original charm of the series. The 2-D segments look beutiful, the 3-D segments look surprisingly smooth, and the Wolf form looks embarrassing.
Notice how slow he moves in wolf form, in comparrisan to the rest of the game, it's like cinderblocks were tied to Sonic's feet AND hands.

Just got the game through the post today (which I actually wasn't expecting)
I love the Sonic levels. They're super fast paced and keep you on your toes. So far, this is my favorite Sonic level:
It's also nice to see that they got rid of that cheesy rock music in the background. Some of the tunes are now actually pretty catchy.
Now, the Werehog levels on the other hand, are just a grind. It's just you going into a room, kill everything there, door opens and repeat.
The worst thing is that the Werehog levels seem to last longer than the Sonic levels.
Still, I think this is a step forward for the series and just hope that if they make another Sonic game, they stick to the Sonic running game type they have in this game. If they do, they could have a winner.

Yeah, I'm going to give Unleashed a try at least.
I'm guessing you played the 360/PS3 version right? Also, what cheesy rock music are you referring to? From what I've seen of the Werehog levels, they look to be more interesting than, say, the non-Sonic/Shadow levels from SA2. Then again, it might just be because I've played SA1&2 so much.

Yeah, I got the 360 version. I hear there are differences in the Wii version with it missing some levels and having extra Werehog levels put in place to try and fill the gap.
Also, this is what I was talking about when I ment cheesy Rock

LOL. My favorite song from Heroes. Another strike against my taste in music.
As for the Wii version. It sounds like it has two less daytime levels. But it also sounds like while the stages share the same style, there's a possibility that the stage's paths are different.

I think I may have been a bit too quick to judge the Werehog levels, as I'm actually enjoying them alot more now. In the begining, its feels like a grind as you are kinda weak, but as you put experience onto the Werehog aspects (Combat, Strength, Life, Unleash and Shield) you start getting stronger and unlocked more combos. In the begining, clearing out a wave of enemies was kind of long and boring. Now, it's short and pretty fun.

The first thing i was dissapointed about SU is the soundtrack.
You need a proper speed corresponding music when playing speed based games IMO.
If you want to hear some slow and relaxing tunes you should play something like visual novels, but not Sonic. No offence.

Ah I played that stage over and over just for the song and how it match the speed of the game. SAB2 was a great game, no matter what anyone else says. I also loved the opening theme song.
