Spec Ops: The Line, Not your typical modern shooter
-1
Anybody play this game? It has a pretty good story considering all the modern shooters out there these days. In fact, I'll say that this is probably the best story experiences of this genre atm. Gameplay isn't amazing, just standard tactical cover shoot with teammate AIs to control. Low ammo also means it's necessary to conserve ammo with accurate single or burst fire shots or else you're going to be shuffling through enemy weapons constantly. It's campaign is short but it doesn't need to be long. Overall gameplay isn't bad and is decent enough, the story is good enough to keep you going. Prob. could've been a movie instead.
Not worth a buy at it's current price but I'd say def. worth a rental. Curious about some of you who have picked up this title.
(edit)
Lol, madbad tard came in.

Bro team so what? As if anything they do are actual reviews. The fact of the matter is that the devs for this game actually focused on a giving a good campaign over just throwing up some singleplayer garbage majority of other shooters do. If you don't like shooters why comment at all if you have nothing to discuss? This is a thread to start a discussion with those who have played it and we can talk about the game.

I played the demo so, i beleive i have the right to leave a comment in here.
And besides, please point at the sentence in my comment that says that i don't like FPS?

I tried to play the game on the Xbox but honestly the controls are sh*t (probably because I'm not experienced in third person shooters though, especially on console). Still, the story is interesting and the scenery is awesome. The only REAL problems are: the shortness of the story (campaign is like, four hours long) and the dubbing (I have the Italian dub for the game, not the cool English one with Nolan North and company, and IT SUCKS).

Cuz playing only a demo gives you all the right to judge a game as a whole right?

Though the moments where it screws you over aren't many, at least in my play through. You have no choice of region?

I was pretty interested in it and wondering if I should buy it. Is their anything really special about it?

Is their anything really special about it?Well currently on Amazon that connects to steam it's only like 24 dollars(though it's full price on steam, weird). Honestly I personally wouldn't buy it at it's full price. Rental is enough since the best thing about this game is it's SG which if you're like me means not much replay value til years later and want to revisit for nostalgia. The MP is just an obvious tack on since it's a standard these days to have MP in your games. If you're the person who actually cares about singleplayer in their games then I say this is worth trying. As I've been saying the story is good because there's good pacing and actual character development. By the end, you and your team aren't the same people that started the mission. The theme is based off the book Heart of Darkness and it's not your typical good guy vs bad guy thing, in fact there's a constant thought about the justification for the choices made by everyone in the game and the morality behind them. You can't really say who is good or bad.

Unfortunately, no. Back in the old days of the PS2 (and even PSX to a certain degree) if a game was dubbed you COULD actually change the language (into English or one of the many European ones, be it German, Portuguese, Spanish, and so on). As of now, on the new consoles if the game isn't dubbed then good, if it is, then sorry you get the dubbed version and that's it.

Yeah I remember the days when we actually had options, but now it seems most people like to region block us and other things like that. God forbid another country's influence enters our master race utopia.

And other scifi gamers, book readers, etc. will say differently. There is no real sense of originality anymore in this modern age, majority of series draw their influences from other sources. What would be a more correct thing for you to say is that you just prefer scifi games as that genre is in your interest.

I didn't really this game or how reviewers and many fans praised it.
I found a video that almost mirrors my sentiments for this game.

I personally love this game, it's of my favorite games of all time, I recommend it to everyone.
This video explains why this un-fun, generic third-shooter is so engaging and interesting.

I really hate Extra Credits.
Also my video better explains why it's a bad game.(without the horrible voice)
