Tekken 7

The new addition to the Tekken series is coming soon. What do you think of the improvised mechanics? I'm a little worried that it will be like Tekken Revolution. I never cared about bound moves, so it doesn't phase me that they have been removed. I don't mind them working on this game, I just wish they'd hurry up and release Tekken X Street Fighter.

Hopefully it's good, but all my hype is invested in Pokken.

I think what will happen is TR will probably transfer to Pokken mechanically, and T7 will be a continuation of its more technical predecessors.

T7 is definitely going in the right direction. It definitely goes without saying, that Tekken or any Namco production has had the best visuals for fighting games ever so far. The issue with their games is that they rely on the "high-low" gimmick style in their games and it's been this way forever and why they're not as popular as Street Fighter. Hell it's probably the least popular of games at tournaments and it really hurts to see that.

The issue with Tekken is that, fundamentally and mechanically, the game has not changed whatsoever in years, and that's it's far to difficult for casuals to pick-up and be good at the game without mashing. The issue is that mashing really works sometimes because there's just far too many skill-lists to remember (At high level Tekken, there's like 1600 sets of frame data, +/- frames on block/hit for just the top tier characters). It's too much for a casual to try to get serious about the game.

I really pray for the success of this game. Namco's always been successful, just not vastly popular like most Capcom fighter titles.

*Cough* I think these two games would like a word.

Two, it isn't a high-low system. It's a rock-paper-scissors system. Highs lose to lows because it whiffs if you're doing a low attack, mids beat low and crouching opponents, highs are generally fastest move in your arsenal. And this isn't boring to watch it's just isn't shoved down our throat as much as Capcom games you got to SouthEast US you will find a good amount of Tekken players.

Three, why would a causal want to read frame data if he's causal he wouldn't know what frame data is let alone remember it. So that part of the point is moot.

New character introduced. She's like a ungodly combination of Ling, Christie and Lili...I love it. Ling is my main, but I might use her.

There's been a DUMB amount of butthurt on the Internet over this character, and to be honest, I was thinking to myself: Harada must have been high to include a catgirl in such a 'serious' fighting game... she looks SO OUT OF PLACE; Can you imagine Kazuya or Jin tearing this girl a new asshole?

But then I remembered: Oh wait, this is the series where boxing animals, live wooden dummies, robots and characters who have no earthly business in fighting games (cough cough Dr. B) are featured, so why the hell not? She looks cute and all..

That aside, her fighting style reminds me of a combination of Lili, the Capos and for some reason Kasumi from DOA. It'll be fun to watch them haters in tears over losing to this character.

I think what's even dumber is people actually believing that Harada is removing her from the US version. Even SRK had to make an article saying "it was obviously a joke statement but since so many sites are reporting it and making a big deal about it Harada decided to tell people himself."

As for Tekken 7, incoming week 1 rage about the super armored moves. It'll be like Tekken Revolution all over again and it'll be fun blowing button mashers up with it until they get smart and bait them.

also false virtua fighter is the least played game at tourneys

Bump for an update:

New character from Saudi Arabia called Shaheen (means Falcon).

It's great to see that Harada is trying to add some variety in the game and seriously when was the last time you saw a middle eastern character in a fighting game? Sure there was Zafina but it took me a while to actually realize that she's Egyptian not Russian as I originally thought. Middle Eastern tekken fans seem to be pretty satisfied with the character (excluding minor nitpicks on the origin of his name etc). I haven't heard of any Middle Eastern martial arts so I'm pretty curious as to what kind of fighting style he'll be using.

T7 is right around the corner. I just want to announce that I'm doing a housewarming tournament that'll be streamed via twitch. The winner of the tournament will get $100 via paypal. If you're interested in signing up, then please pm me. Thank you.

Requirements:

-PS4 (unless Namco decides to do cross platform netplay).

I'm quite excited for the game, but i'm not competitive and i can't bother with trying to get competitive so i think it will end up like a game that i play sometimes for the fun of it.

I've been hearing alot of high praises for T7, especially on the PC version where the netcode is alot better than the PS4 version. I'd get it but my wallet's being a pain with me lol

I love it so far, but it is basically just a really fine tuned version of Tekken. So your not getting anything different then other Tekkens imo.

I've been hearing a lot of backlash regarding the new mechanics such as Rage Arts (I personally only use Rage Drives because they're more useful in rank matches). People say Tekken is trying to be like Street fighter now.

I wouldn't say a lot of backlash. Some people have complained but I think people are used to it now. The game has been out for nearly 2 years. Rage drives are also more useful as you say, you can use them in combos more effectively and they are safe on block.

I based the term "a lot" on my own experiences talking to friends I play with online. It's like everytime I get on someone is cursing about getting hit by a rage art. But you are right about the complaints dying down. It's easy to avoid a noob who uses them. So within a couple more weeks, i'll probably be hearing memes about rage arts instead of complaints.

How did you tekken 7 players like the new dlc pack that was released not too long ago?
